We are looking for a dynamic, organized self-starter to join our Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) as an IT Technical Architect supporting Integrated Logistics business.   

The Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. PSLD is responsible for the worldwide distribution of Cat aftermarket parts, integrated logistics, and global service to develop and support our global dealer network and customers.

  

The Opportunity:

As a Senior IT Architect for Integrated Logistics Services portfolio, the incumbent will provide technical architecture solution services, technical vision and leadership to IT and Business projects and support initiatives. The Technical Architect is also responsible for managing technology footprint and drive strategic systems solutions with business clients and partners by coordinating with the greater enterprise architecture team and representing technology architecture in related architecture activities. The position provides leadership direction and accountability for architecture plans, technology design and lifecycle, cybersecurity compliance, and information integrity through Enterprise Architecture processes/reviews and standard compliance practices. IT Architect will determine and develop architectural approaches and solutions, conduct architectural reviews, and recommend how to proceed with the applications (replace, retire, maintain).

Job Duties / Responsibilities:

Own and advance the technology strategy, roadmap, and architectural governance.

Ensure successful delivery of IT solutions within scope, budget, and quality expectations.

Lead solution initiatives and collaborate across diverse business and IT teams.

Serve as an enterprise architect and provide strategic direction for technology decisions.

Function as the primary liaison with internal and external stakeholders on IT strategy.

Bridge business and technology needs across diverse platforms.

Assess risks, recommend actions, and lead teams through technology initiatives.

Provide technical leadership and demonstrate effective people‑leadership capabilities.

Represent the business unit in corporate cybersecurity initiatives and ensure compliance.

Support cybersecurity strategy, implementation, and alignment with enterprise policies.

Motivate teams, foster collaboration, and drive innovation in solution design.

Demonstrate strong listening, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

15+ years of progressive IT experience.

8+ years of enterprise architecture experience with hands-on technical design and implementation of complex, large-scale, distributed systems.

Strong expertise in software architecture design, principles, and frameworks.

Deep understanding of architectural patterns, integration styles, and software lifecycle management.

Experience with integration technologies (Java, SnapLogic, ACE, DataPower).

Knowledge of backend databases (Oracle, DB2, MS SQL Server, Snowflake).

Experience with B2B file transfer platforms (SI‑EDI, SI‑MFT, API, Azure Storage, MQ).

Demonstrated expertise in assessing external vendor software and driving secure, scalable cloud implementations.

Strong understanding of internet systems, protocols, and standards (TCP/IP, HTTP, XML, SOAP, SOA).

Domain expertise in Supply Chain and Logistics.

Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Experience with Logical Technical Architecture (LTA) preparation and review, Third‑Party Risk Assessments (TPRA), and Software Onboarding.

Demonstrated ability to support cybersecurity activities and ensure compliance with enterprise security policies.

Solid understanding of open‑source vulnerabilities and associated license compliance requirements.

Top Candidates will also have:

Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.

Broad experience across Integrated Logistics functions (Transportation, Trade Compliance, Warehouse Management, Dealer Visibility).

Experience with project management tools (MS Project, Azure DevOps).

Strong skills in cost and timeline estimation.

Demonstrated strengths in planning, initiating actions, delegation, consensus building, decision making, leadership, and people skills.

Knowledge of security best practices, including on-prem and cloud applications.

• Demonstrates extensive experience with software design, development and deployment.
 

Application Modernization: Knowledge of the concepts, processes and technologies of application modernization; ability to design, develop and deploy modernized applications in various business scenarios.

• Creates and customizes cloud application modernization plans based on specific business requirements.
• Consults on security issues and problems regarding application migration.
• Coaches others on the modernization approach for microservice based application.

Architecture Modeling: Knowledge of Architecture Modeling; ability to develop and modify enterprise architecture through conceptual, logical and physical approaches.
Level Extensive Experience:
• Consults on architecture framework design; verifies operational objectives for each framework design procedure.
• Determines corresponding indicators for each technology layer and evaluates the operational performance of each layer.
• Decides on specific roles and responsibilities of engineers within business, information and data architecture modeling.
