Senior Inventory Analyst
Summary of Position:

The Senior Inventory Analyst will work with various financial and operational departments within the organization to assist in the day-to-day functioning of the Company’s inventory accounting department. This role will play an integral part in the monthly financial close process and work with external auditors on quarterly reviews and the annual audit. This role will be responsible for the Dollar Tree Canada gross margin forecasts, as well as preparation and presentation of monthly gross margin reporting to senior financial leadership. The Senior Analyst will further help prepare reporting for weekly and monthly markdowns by type.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:Prepare monthly inventory accounting entries to the inventory subledger and general ledger systems.Reconcile gross margin activity including purchases, sales, markdowns and shrink between the general ledger and inventory subledger.Research and provide explanations for variances between the general ledger and subledger for gross margin and inventory.Prepare and analyze monthly balance sheet reconciliations for inventory related GL accounts and research and resolve identified exceptions.Provide inventory workpapers to external auditors for quarterly reviews and the annual financial statement audit.Facilitate the monthly markdown meeting and analyze markdown and shrink activity to identify trends and/or issues and proper accounting.Support in preparing the monthly gross margin reporting package for senior executives.Participate in budget/forecast process for merchandise cost, shrink and markdowns.Work on cross functional teams on IT projects related to inventory including user acceptance testing procedures.Partner with other departments (Merchandise, Operations, Logistics, Asset Protection, A/P, and Financial Reporting) on financial issues related to inventory.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications: BS/BA in Accounting or Finance.Minimum of three years general accounting experience (public or private).General knowledge of inventory transactions.General understanding of data tools such as SQL, Showcase.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.Self starter with ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision.Ability to successfully interface at all levels of the organization.
