Senior Human Resources Generalist, Thomaston, Georgia

When you join our team as a Senior Human Resources Generalist, you will
be responsible for the delivery of day-to-day human resources support at our Thomaston
mill. This role partners closely with mill leadership to coordinate key HR
activities, support employee relations, and ensure effective implementation of
Interfor’s HR programs and processes. The Senior HR Generalist provides
guidance on HR practices, supports workforce development activities, and serves
as an accessible resource for employees across the site.

With
major capital upgrades underway at our Thomaston mill, the successful candidate
will play a critical role in achieving full staffing levels in production and
skilled trades and in retaining employees throughout the transition period.

What You’ll Do

Partner with mill leadership on staffing, retention, talent discussions, and community engagement. Support all core HR functions, including hourly recruitment, onboarding, performance management, discipline, employee relations, benefits, compensation, and compliance. Build trusting relationships with mill leadership to ensure the effective delivery of HR programs. Provide support to the Mill Manager, Superintendents, and Supervisors in identifying and addressing employee relations issues and concerns. Administer Interfor policies and programs to ensure compliance that is consistent with our core company values. Coordinate with regional HR partners to ensure alignment and consistency in program delivery. Assist all employees with HR, benefit and payroll related inquiries or requests and act as liaison with various internal and external resources as needed. Maintain accurate HR and payroll records for hourly employees, including personnel files, benefit enrollments, and payroll documentation. Administer FMLA leave requests and ensure compliance. Work closely with Mill EHS on matters that may have a direct impact on employment issues. Provide case management support for worker’s compensation claims. Collect, analyse and report out on key HR metrics. Be accessible to all employees by routinely spending time in the mill and following up on concerns and issues as they arise. Provide HR support to other mills in the region as needed. Coordinate onboarding plans for new leaders and manage required tasks through Cornerstone OnDemand (Talent Center).

What You Offer

5 years of progressive experience in Human Resources, preferably involving employee relations, community engagement, hourly recruitment, and workforce development. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite Experience with time and attendance systems (Kronos preferred), applicant tracking systems (Cornerstone OnDemand preferred), and payroll software (ADP preferred). Experience with claims management is considered an asset. Ability to build strong relationships at all levels. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work effectively in a highly interactive team environment. Ability to communicate clear and concise information in an accurate informative manner. Strong listening skills and sound judgement. Highly organized with strong prioritization and attention to detail.
