Senior Financial Analyst
Job Title: Senior Financial Analyst/ Research Financial Analyst Job Description We are seeking a seasoned professional capable of working with a high degree of independence. The individual will serve as the primary financial contact for both internal and external stakeholders, requiring strong communication and technical maturity. The role involves overseeing the financial aspects of Canada's image-guided therapy network, managed through a strategic innovation project funded by the Government of Canada. The position operates in the capacity of a business partner, analyst, strategic thinker, and planner. Responsibilities + Look holistically at the budget, agreements, strategic goals, and needs to formulate proposals for structuring and implementing budgets. + Perform monthly budget vs actuals, variance, and trend analysis. + Complete and submit quarterly claim reports, CF forecast reports, and respond to queries. + Create presentations for management boards. + Conduct periodic budget reviews and detailed analysis, proactively identifying potential issues and recommending corrective actions. + Monitor and review financial aspects of funding recipients' projects, including budget reviews and expenditure verifications. + Ensure compliance with cost principles, reporting requirements, and other policies. + Communicate tactfully with scientists, third-party recipients, and government staff on project finances. + Provide ongoing training for recipients on budget preparation and expenditure reporting. + Assist with events and symposia. + Evaluate the effectiveness of current internal controls and recommend improvements. + Implement robust financial tracking systems for accurate reporting. + Coordinate with auditors to facilitate comprehensive audits of related financial activities. Essential Skills + Experience in financial analysis, finance, accounting, and financial reporting within a Hospital preferably + Proficient with Grants Finance + Advanced skills in SAP and large ERP systems. + CPA or CPA, CA strongly preferred. Alternatively, CPA, CMA / MAcc. / MBA. + Exceptional communication (spoken & written English) and interpersonal skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Proficiency in French is a plus. + Experience in hospital or research settings is preferred. Work Environment The role allows for work-from-home three days a week initially, reducing to two days after the first few months. The remaining days are spent with the Research Finance team. The workweek consists of 37.5 hours with flexible hours from 9-5. Overtime is not required but should be discussed with the manager if necessary. The dress code is business smart. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North York, ON. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $50.00/hr.
