Job Description
The successful candidate will be a key member of the Technical Accounting Team, working closely with a team of five and liaising with finance teams across various business segments. This role involves drafting and implementing corporate-wide accounting policies, contributing to process improvements and special projects, and performing routine technical accounting processes. Additionally, the position requires facilitating the preparation of internal and external reporting documents and reporting on new acquisitions.
ResponsibilitiesDraft and implement corporate-wide accounting policies, including drafting policy papers on new standards.Research new accounting standards and draft policy papers applicable to the organization.Perform significant contract technical accounting reviews.Maintain monthly Technical Accounting workbooks on key processes such as expected credit loss and hedge effectiveness.Complete special projects, accounting working papers, and tasks as assigned.Collaborate with the Financial Reporting team to prepare quarterly and annual financial statements, MD&A, and Audit Committee memos.Investigate, research, and analyze information for financial statements and MD&A.Complete the IFRS disclosure checklist.Maintain relevant controls as required.Work closely with divisional finance teams on accounting issues ensuring compliance with IFRS and accounting policies.Respond to both internal and external audit requests.Essential SkillsCPA or CPA, CA designation or equivalent.Minimum of 8+ years of relevant experience in public accounting firms or public companies.Strong technical knowledge and experience with public company accounting requirements.Strong understanding of financial statement close processes applicable to public companies.Strong technical knowledge base and experience with IFRS accounting.Excellent Excel skills, comfortable working with large volumes of data using advanced functions.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with US GAAP.Overall knowledge of Canadian National Instruments rules is a plus.Experience with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne ERP and OneStream Corporate Performance Management is an asset.Excellent accounting analysis and problem-solving skills.Ability to identify and resolve issues with a focus on operational excellence.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Willingness to learn and improve existing processes.Strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills.Work Environment
The work environment includes flexible hours with the possibility of working three days in the office and two days at home. The core in-office days are Tuesday and Thursday, with the third day being flexible. The team consists of five members, and the reporting hours are from 8 AM to 5 PM.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $45.67 - $55.28/hr.
