Senior Financial Analyst, Accounting
Description Amazon is a fast paced, dynamic, high-tech company. The global accounting organization supports our financial reporting, internal control, intercompany, and transfer pricing activities and also supports new business launches globally for Amazon in the consumer products, initiatives, merchant, operations, logistics, payments, and cloud computing lines of business. We are currently looking for a senior level candidate to help support the business growth in Amazon’s Sao Paulo, Brazil office. Successful candidates may have held senior analyst or accounting coordination or finance positions in public or private companies and demonstrated experience in leading teams to accomplish unusually complex challenges is also expected. Key job responsibilities • Manage the period-end close process by ensuring the accurate and timely completion of all CAPEX accounting entries and reconciliations. • Manage key fixed assets life cycle events • Perform analytical review of Capex/depreciation related balances and provide balance sheet account movements to support cash flow reporting • Drive projects, provide accounting guidance and often serve as first point of contact for finance and business partners to resolve issues. • Ensure effective collaboration and influence across multiple organizations with partner teams and stakeholders. Basic Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field - Experience in creating process improvements with automation and analysis - Experience in identifying, leading, and executing opportunities to improve, automate, standardize or simplify finance or business tools and processes - Experience researching and documenting support for accounting conclusions - Knowledge of internal control framework (specifically COSO) to assess control design and operational efficiency - Thorough knowledge of Brazilian and U.S. GAAP (including the FASB Codification) and related research tools - Experience with accounting closing process, including preparing and reviewing reconciliations - Written and spoken fluency in English and Portuguese required Preferred Qualifications - MBA, or CPA - Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards) - Operational accounting experience with international companies - A demonstrated history of solving multiple and complex operational and accounting challenges - Aptitude for leading teams – influencing and galvanizing others to follow you toward a solution - Solid organizational skills along with an aptitude for information technology - Good analytical skills - Strong interpersonal written and oral communication skills Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.
