Senior Field Service Resident Reliability Technician
Job Description **Who will you be working with?** With the Field Service Team, you will work collaboratively with the PM, the KAM, and the Resident Engineer (if present) to provide the required field support to advance the reliability of all Wabtec transit products present on your assigned territory. **How will you make a difference?** The Senior Field Service Resident Reliability Technician (SFSRT) is required to act as Wabtec’s representative at the transit authority location in NJ Area. The SFSRT is required to provide technical and customer support to the Transit Authority or Car builder as directed. The SFSRT is responsible to provide assigned customers with technical service with the main goal of ensuring that Wabtec products are maintained correctly resulting in meeting / exceeding the product reliability targets. **What do we want to know about you?** **EDUCATION:** + Technical training in both electrical & mechanical systems **EXPERIENCE:** + Requires at least 8 years of working as a technician or equivalent + Knowledge of the rail industry is an asset **OTHER REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:** + Strong knowledge of PC’s / laptops + Ability to troubleshoot using the laptop as a tool + Strong knowledge of MS Excel + Ability to perform software downloads + Strong mechanical aptitudes COMPETENCIES/ABILITIES + Technical competence in both electrical & mechanical systems + Hands on type of person + Ability to lead temporary manpower is an asset + Integrity & honesty + Accountability + Ability to work unsupervised in transit authority locations. + Valid driver’s license **What will your typical day look like?** 1.Serve as key Wabtec representative on Transit Authority sites to support assigned Wabtec Product Lines. This includes modifications, warranty and aftermarket activities. Focus on supporting customer repair activities to ensure Wabtec product reliability. 2. Assist Transit Authority Car Equipment and Repair Operations with technical repair support, debugging and troubleshooting of assigned Wabtec products. 3. Proactively obtain customer reliability/performance information and inform the responsible Wabtec Product lines. Analyze reliability data and search for opportunities to improve product reliability. Use data to engage customer and recommended changes to procedures and component replacement intervals that improve product reliability. 4.Serve as key liaison between the customer and product line engineering. Become the key Wabtec resource for understanding customer repair activities and product reliability trends. 5. Lead Site Safety at NJ Transit + Manage NJ Transit site safety training requirements for Field Service and Wabtec visitors. + The FSRT must comply with the PPE (personal protective equipment) requirements and general safety policies of the rail car builder and/or transit authority, while on their premises. Field service personnel must also comply with all aspects of the Wabtec ‘‘2 minute warning’’ safety initiative. 6. Planning and Organization: + Manage site inventory (warranty) + Manage onsite tool requirements (calibration/replacement/requisition) + Capture and record fleet subsystem data to support the installed base records in Salesforce (record top-level or multiple component p/n’s) + Record issues and negative performance against the installed base in SF to build database of application specific product performance intel. + Maintain “on-hand” (paper and digital) (by vehicle and/or division) copies of relevant mechanical and electrical drawings/schematics to support troubleshooting and other warranty issues. All drawings/schematics/documents shall remain the property of Wabtec and shall not at any time be distributed and/or published without the prior written consent of Wabtec. + Monitor and support the OE activities as needed. + Quarterly reviews with Account Executive and OE Project PM’s + Review material inventory needed to support OE commissioning 7. Coordinate site needs: + Coordinate Wabtec personnel coming on site with NJT host/escort. + Manage FS personnel needs for larger campaigns + Attend and assist NJT with first time and prototype installations. + Participate in Wabtec conference calls and on-site meetings with Customers, Wabtec Field Service, Sales & Key Accounts, Project Management & Aftermarket departments. + Attempt to understand upcoming material demands/needs based on NJT forecasting. + Be the frontline defense for any material concerns, reported technical, and/or workmanship issues + Perform Repairs, FMIs, or other minor work as needed. 8. SFSRT must adhere to all product line procedures for returning material. Prior to accepting any parts returned by the rail car builder for warranty purposes be sure to inspect such parts for damage. If such parts have been damaged by the rail car builder then document this on the relevant form and if required take pictures. **Keep an excel summary spreadsheet of all issues that can be back charged to the Customer.** 9. Keep a log book (or a binder of all work orders) of all trouble calls from the customer. For each log entry record the following information: date of call, time of call, who called, car number, position of the defective component on the rail car, description of problem, customer work order number, time arrived on site. 10. For every Service Call, complete a customer service work order form and keep a copy for your records to satisfy future audits. Brief the rail car builder personnel as required on findings and actions taken as a result of the service call. Ensure that all customer work orders (for Wabtec system defects) get addressed and closed out as soon as possible without delay, and within the time frame specified by the rail car builder, unless prevented by car or parts availability. 11. Respond to the customer’s requests for assistance on all Wabtec systems within the number of hours allocated as per the contract between Wabtec and the customer. As & when required by Wabtec and/or the customer the field service technician may be called on to carry a cell phone and be available during the night shift or other shifts (and/or on the weekend) to troubleshoot/repair any problems/issues with the Wabtec systems. 12. Support the product line engineers, during training (especially on-car training) on the Wabtec systems to either personnel from the car builder or the transit authority as required by Wabtec/Project Management. 13. The FSRT will be required to take direction from immediate supervisor as well as other identified Wabtec management. You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary. While this position is remote, it may include occasional work at a Wabtec office/site or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager. Our job titles may span more than one career level.
