Job Family Definition:

The Cloud Developer builds from the ground up to meet the needs of mission-critical applications, and is always looking for innovative approaches to deliver end-to-end technical solutions to solve customer problems.

Brings technical thinking to break down complex data and to engineer new ideas and methods for solving, prototyping, designing, and implementing cloud-based solutions.

Collaborates with project managers and development partners to ensure effective and efficient delivery, deployment, operation, monitoring, and support of Cloud engagements.

The Cloud Developer provides business value expertise to drive the development of innovative service offerings that enrich HPE's Cloud Services portfolio across multiple systems, platforms, and applications.

Management Level Definition:

Applies expert subject matter knowledge to manage staff activities in solving most complex business/technical issues within established policies. Manages activities of exempt individual contributors (typically Expert/Master) and/or MG1s. Has accountability for a large multi-department area(s) or location(s) with significant impact on business unit results and organizational strategy. Acts as a key advisor to senior management on the development of overall policies and long-term goals of the organization. Plans, manages, and monitors high-end operational/tactical activities of Staff. Staff members' primary focus is on either high-end tactical or broad strategic issues or a combination of both. Recruits and supports development of direct staff members. Position typically reports to Director or above. 

Additional Guidance/Criteria: Manages and controls activities within a sub-region or Region; Typically manages 10 or more direct reports.  Span of Control guidelines may differ from these numbers.

What you'll do:

Responsibilities:

Provide strong, ongoing leadership to a large engineering organization comprising managers and senior technologists responsible for designing, developing, enhancing, and sustaining products and platform capabilities.Oversee end-to-end delivery of multiple concurrent projects from conception through deployment. Play a horizontal leadership role by coordinating release and feature execution across multiple teams within the organization.Hands-on architecture reviews , define project scope, objectives, timelines, and resource requirements to ensure predictable and efficient delivery.Coordinate cross-functional teams, proactively manage risks, and ensure successful delivery aligned with quality standards and stakeholder expectations.Ability to respond quickly and effectively to project or roadmap-related challenges, ensuring minimal impact on delivery commitments.Stay current with advancements in cloud technologies, algorithms, and engineering methodologies, driving adoption where beneficial.Provide technical leadership and guidance while fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.Collaborate closely with senior management, business leaders, and domain experts to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions, while communicating project progress, outcomes, and strategic insights effectively.Build and nurture a high-performing, best-in-class engineering organization that consistently delivers strong results.Demonstrate advanced program and project management capabilities, including effective time management, risk mitigation, prioritization, and structured execution.Contribute to customer support and escalation management, ensuring timely resolution within committed ETAs, driving actionable postmortems, and systematically reducing recurring escalations on a quarterly basis.Champion adoption of AI-driven tools and practices within day-to-day SDLC processes to improve engineering productivity, quality, and delivery efficiency.Be vigilant in monitoring incoming defect trends and take proactive actions to address issues, conduct retrospectives, and drive continuous quality improvements.

What you need to bring:

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor’s degree in a related area of study with a typically of 10+ years’ experience including 5 or more years of people management experience, Advanced Degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) is strongly preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:

Strong expertise in cloud solution development across multiple domains; experience in hyperconverged infrastructure (compute, storage, networking) is a plus.Proven leadership in managing large engineering teams, fostering innovation, and driving high-performance cultures.Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver complex projects successfully in fast-paced environments.Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to translate business needs into effective execution strategies.Effective communicator capable of presenting complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Familiarity with AI technologies and their application in engineering environments is an added advantage.Hands-on experience in product R&D initiatives, including innovation, prototyping, and product development, is a strong advantage.
