Senior Electrical Designer - Transmission & Distribution (Denver)

**Description**
A Senior Electrical Designer will lead various phases of planning, site evaluations, analytical designs, design documents for proposals, report preparation, specifications, and preparation of construction documentation and electrical plans as part of a project team. This position will lead various projects with a diverse portfolio of project types and clients.
+ Lead various electrical project designs, including electrical schematics, grid plan layouts, electrical power systems, single-line diagrams, lighting systems, grounding systems, lightning protection systems, protection and controls, and site and facility design. Follow all company, client and project design and drafting standards.
+ Lead drawing, planning, development and production work, including problem analysis, design layout and calculations on non-routine assignments of substantial variety and complexity requiring coordination across multiple disciplines.
+ Lead a variety of assignments using prescribed methods and standard techniques, including drawing sequence and presentation, sizing various system components (conduit, feeders, panels, equipment) and refining rough sketches.
+ Lead the evaluation of designs or sketches and redlines or mark-ups on ongoing projects for quality assurance and constructability.
+ Approve reports, drawings, and tests to plan and lead design projects to meet deliverables and project performance expectations.
+ Approve design codes and specifications related to design requirements in coordination with project engineers and applicable authorities.
+ Lead production of design drawings within scope, budget, and schedule. Perform project tasks and assignments within budgeted hours and deadlines while maintaining required quality standards.
+ Compute volume calculations for conduit/grounding layouts, equipment and panel wiring diagrams, and relay panel schematics under the direction of the engineer and in accordance with established design criteria.
+ Incorporate schedules, budgets, and project criteria into electrical design and layouts for project financial goals and overall project execution plans.
+ Responsible for the quality review of all revisions of project drawings, plot files, and project-related information in a logical and well-structured manner prior to issue.
+ Train, mentor, and develop less experienced drafting, detailing, and design staff members, including reviewing work products and ensuring adherence to standards.
+ Participate in marketing and possible client development meetings by providing technical input and design support.
+ Responsible for the electrical design QA/QC process, including internal reviews and resolution of comments.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
+ Complies with all policies and standards.
**Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's Degree in drafting technology or related field, and 13 years of related experience required.
+ Or Associate's Degree and 14 years of related experience required.
+ Or 15 years of progressive detailing and design experience required.
+ Expert understanding of design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Excel to develop the design deliverables. Ability to learn and effectively utilize new design software programs.
+ Expert ability to utilize 2D and 3D applications to prepare engineering drawings.
+ Expert knowledge in design, calculations, and design systems.
+ Expert knowledge in the theory and practices of the assigned discipline; competent in the fundamental concepts of other disciplines as they relate to the assigned discipline; and capable of operating related discipline design software necessary to execute production tasks.
+ Work collaboratively with others, including but not limited to clients (Project Managers, Engineers, and Designers), in a multidisciplinary project team environment to resolve design or drawing issues as appropriate and to accomplish objectives.
+ Excellent written & verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly.
+ Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and a demonstrated ability to self-check work.
**Compensation**
$145,000.00-195,000.00 Yearly
The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The expected compensation range for this position is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
