We’re working onsite 5 days a week as part of our commitment to fostering a culture of professional growth and cross-functional collaboration as we work together to engineer the extraordinary.The Senior EHS Specialist leads site environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure regulatory compliance, reduce risk, and strengthen safety culture. This role leads EHS initiatives, and partners with Operations, Engineering, and Facilities to integrate safety into daily operations while balancing business needs with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned. Develops, administers and implements environmental, health, and safety programs in accordance with governmental requirements.
Conduct on-site EHS inspections, audits, and risk assessments to confirm compliance with OSHA, EPA, and applicable local requirements.
Assess and document controls for machine guarding, electrical safety, hazardous waste, chemical management, ergonomics, and related operational hazards.
Serve as the site EHS compliance lead during regulatory inspections and internal/external audits, including preparation, escorting, response coordination, and documentation.
Maintain a regulatory horizon scan and translate new or changing requirements into site-level actions, timelines, and owner assignments.
Develop, implement, and maintain EHS programs, policies, procedures, and standards aligned with company governance and regulatory obligations.
Support environmental compliance activities as applicable, including permitting, pollution prevention, environmental impact considerations, and required reporting.
Lead incident, injury, near-miss, and environmental event investigations using structured root cause analysis methods.
Define corrective and preventive actions, assign ownership, and verify effectiveness to prevent recurrence.
Identify potential EHS risks and provide clear, practical mitigation recommendations to site leadership based on severity and exposure.
Partner with Engineering, Facilities, and Operations to embed EHS requirements into daily work, maintenance practices, and operational changes.
Build positive working relationships across diverse teams and levels to gain cooperation and drive adoption of safe behaviors and compliant processes.
Create toolbox talks, safety communications, and informational presentations and deliver them effectively across multiple levels of the operations team for supported site(s).
Design and deliver EHS training programs for employees and contractors, ensuring content is understood and applied on the floor.
Mentor colleagues and reinforce a “Find it, Fix it” culture that encourages hazard reporting, timely resolution, and learning.
Analyze EHS performance data (incidents, audits, observations, trends) and convert findings into prioritized, actionable improvement plans.
Present recommendations, tactical direction, and business-relevant insights to drive alignment and acceptance with stakeholders.
Lead EHS improvement projects from scoping through implementation, including success measures, timelines, and sustainment plans.
Manage competing priorities with flexibility, follow through on assignments with minimal supervision, and reliably close commitments.
Identify and implement EHS best practices that improve performance and are scalable across the organization.
Apply ethical decision-making and professional judgment in all work, including when balancing customer service with governance and compliance requirements.
Adapt local site strategies to meet applicable corporate, local, and global standards (including ISO-aligned expectations where relevant).
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 4 years relevant EHS experience or a Master’s degree and a minimum of 2 years relevant EHS experience OR PhD with 0 years relevant experience.
Nice To Have:
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
5+ years of EHS experience in manufacturing, construction, utility, or industrial environments.
Experience leading compliance programs and safety improvement initiatives.
Strong understanding of OSHA, EPA, ANSI, and related regulatory requirements.
Familiarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems preferred.
Experience with risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint.
CSP or equivalent certification preferred.
ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 credentials highly desirable.
Strong communication and presentation capabilities.
Ability to influence leadership and gain cooperation across teams.
Skilled in balancing governance requirements with operational needs.
Able to manage competing priorities while maintaining collaboration and customer focus.
