Job Summary

Are you passionate about applying cutting-edge GenAI to solve real-world problems at an unmatched scale? Are you eager to shape the future of customer service by leading technical innovation at the world’s largest retailer? If so, we invite you to bring your technical depth, leadership, and product vision to Walmart.

As a Senior Distinguished Engineer within the Associate Experience and Digital Transformation (AEDT) team, you will define and drive the architectural vision for Walmart’s My Assistant platform — a GenAI-powered assistant transforming how 2.2M+ associates work. You’ll collaborate closely with engineering, product, and data science teams to build scalable, intelligent systems that streamline operations and elevate customer experiences. This is a hands-on, high-impact role where you’ll influence both long-term strategy and day-to-day engineering excellence, fostering a culture of innovation and technical mastery.

About the Team

The My Assistant team is building Walmart’s internal agentic platform — enabling GenAI capabilities for millions of associates through intuitive applications and reusable AI services. As part of the AEDT portfolio, we also support essential productivity tools like Jira, Zoom, and a growing suite of intelligent applications that make work more efficient, productive, and delightful. Our team includes engineers, ML practitioners, and product leaders united by a mission to harness GenAI to help associates serve customers better, faster, and smarter. We operate at the intersection of enterprise complexity and cutting-edge AI — with the scale and support to make transformative ideas real.

About Team:

Our team is focused on developing a streamlined, dependable company that includes service operations and technology solutions for Finance, People, and Associate Digital Experience (ADE). We also provide a variety of services such as procurement, supplier portfolio management, merchandising master data, and analytics. From developing HR chatbots and virtual assistants to creating invoice solutions and facilitating legal changes, we help drive efficiency across Walmart globally.

What you'll do:

• Define and drive technical strategy for the My Assistant platform, guiding architecture, scalability, and system design (both high-level and low-level).

• Collaborate deeply with Data Scientists to build secure, performant, and production-ready GenAI applications.

• Serve as a hands-on technical mentor — guiding teams through prototyping, development, and deployment of next-gen AI solutions as well as coding for critical path code yourself.

• Influence engineering standards across the organization, promoting high-quality, maintainable, and resilient software practices.

• Partner with product and business leaders to shape the roadmap, ensuring technical solutions align with business goals.

• Lead architectural reviews, troubleshoot complex issues, and uphold operational excellence across systems.

• Cultivate a culture of innovation, experimentation, and continuous learning across teams.

What you'll bring:

• 12 + years of experience building and scaling distributed systems in high-impact environments.

• Demonstrated success in leading the end-to-end delivery of complex software systems — from vision to reality.

• Deep understanding of architecture patterns, GenAI platforms, and large-scale system design.

• Expertise in building resilient, low-latency, and highly available services with operational rigor.

• Strategic thinking with a bias toward action — able to balance business needs with long-term technology vision.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to influence at all levels.

• Passion for mentorship, talent development, and building strong, inclusive engineering cultures.

• Curiosity and adaptability — with a proven ability to ramp up in new domains quickly.
