Join Walmart as a Senior Director, Technical Program Management – Chief of Staff International Tech Platforms to support the SVP, International Tech Platforms at Walmart Global Tech. International Tech is responsible for building and scaling technology platforms that power Walmart’s business in markets including Mexico, Chile, Canada, and beyond.
This is a high-impact, deeply technical leadership role at the intersection of product, engineering, and strategic operations across Walmart’s international markets. You’ll serve as a trusted thought partner and technical advisor to the SVP, driving clarity, scale, and alignment across global engineering initiatives.
The role requires fluency in software development life cycles, platform architecture, data strategy, and Agile delivery models, as well as the ability to synthesize technical complexity into clear strategic direction.
You’ll lead with both precision and influence, helping to operationalize our technological vision and execute at scale across multiple countries and cross-functional teams. This is an ideal opportunity for a strategic operator with strong engineering acumen who thrives in fast-moving, globally distributed environments and is excited to shape how Walmart builds and delivers technology around the world.
What You’ll Do
Shape and execute technology strategy in partnership with the SVP of International Tech, translating long-term goals into actionable programs across engineering, product, and data teams.
Own and drive technical program execution, ensuring delivery of high-priority initiatives related to platform modernization, developer experience, and systems integration.
Partner across Engineering, Product Ops, Business Strategy, Finance, and PMO to ensure alignment of roadmaps, capacity plans, and performance metrics.
Lead data-informed portfolio planning using delivery KPIs, architectural inputs, and headcount forecasting to improve speed, scale, and efficiency.
Develop and manage team operating rhythms (e.g., OKRs, PI Planning, QBRs), governance structures, and escalation pathways.
Build and lead a small team or POD of technical program managers and operations specialists to support execution across global programs.
Coordinate executive updates, technical communications, and board-level materials that highlight engineering progress, risk mitigation, and strategic bets.
Serve as a center of gravity for decision-making, collaboration, and knowledge sharing across international engineering teams.
Lead initiatives to reduce tech debt, accelerate release velocity, and improve cross-border execution across U.S., Mexico, Chile, Canada, and beyond.
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related technical field required; MBA or equivalent experience a plus.
10+ years of experience in technical program management, engineering leadership, or technology operations.
Strong knowledge of software architecture, Agile/SAFe frameworks, enterprise systems, and cloud technologies (Azure, GCP, or AWS).
Proven success in driving large-scale, cross-functional engineering programs, ideally in a global, matrixed organization.
Excellent communication and storytelling skills — able to explain complex technical issues to executive audiences and influence outcomes.
Comfortable navigating and resolving ambiguity; thrives in fast-paced environments with shifting priorities.
Demonstrated ability to lead without authority and influence senior stakeholders across engineering, finance, and business domains.
Expertise in technical planning tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Aha!, PowerBI) and engineering metrics (velocity, DORA, cycle time).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in retail, eCommerce, logistics, or enterprise platforms
Familiarity with international market nuances (e.g., data localization, GDPR, multilingual tooling)
