The Senior Director, Strategic Government Development at SD Government has the primary responsibility of developing and executing strategic messaging and engagement plans to drive revenue growth, market penetration, and customer awareness across our military and government portfolio. This role requires a dynamic leader with extensive experience in government procurement, government funding and budgeting processes, working with strategic command levels in the USG, developing industry partnerships, and implementing complex SATCOM solutions for USG end users.

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, exceptional commercial acumen, and a proven track record of delivering results and accomplishing growth targets in the aerospace and defense industry.

How will you make a difference? 

Lead annual strategic government engagement plan development and ensure successful implementationDevelop and execute comprehensive brand awareness and growth strategies to achieve and shape programs of record for future business growthWork with sales teams to ensure successful capture plans with critical customers and competitive informationIdentify and shape new market opportunities and identify key strategic commercial partnerships as neededParticipate in business development processes including, marketing campaigns, pipeline management and analytics, gate reviews, new product or partnership business cases, etc…Liaise with all SD Government shared resources and Corporate functional resources to ensure effective communicationCreate and maintain strong relationships with partners and key customers as needed by SD Government and corporate leadership teamsLeverage business relationships to drive additional growth for the US and InternationalPrepare strategic plans and presentations for executive level review and discussionFacilitate strategic advisory board meetings and discussions with key stakeholders to include board members, consultants, and lobbyistsResponsible for resources and budget management for government relations and affairs to include usage of lobbyistsStrive to be an expert on SD Government Products and Services Possess the ability to assess the competitive landscape and successfully position SD Governments products ahead of similar competitive products in the market Provide information for management by preparing market and customer updates reporting on key risks and opportunities for the business Work with other SD Government senior leadership team, sharing data and information, to reach collective growth goals and targets of the company as a whole 

Qualifications 

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience is required 12-15 years’ experience in the Aerospace & Defense industry in sales and business development, and government affairs.7+ years' experience successfully developing SATCOM solutions with end users using traditional and non-traditional procurement mechanisms 7-10 years mentoring, coaching, and developing a teamSubstantial travel for team meetings, trade shows, and customer functions is required (up to 50%, including international) Must have secret security clearance or must be eligible to obtain one

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Experience 

Proven experience influencing strategic command and pentagon level officialsDemonstrated experience in shaping complex SATCOM solutions that result in fielded applicationsStrong experience in developing, tracking and implementing government relations plans and techniquesDeep knowledge of US Government procurement, budgetary rules and regulationsSolid command of USG sales and business development process and methodsAbility to mediate and negotiate; dynamic, motivated, persuasive and goal motivated  Passion for building relationships with key industry and government entities 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Experience 

Previous military experience is desired, but not requiredEffective communication skills Ability to build trusting relationships with cross-functional teams Possess experience in public speaking and be comfortable in a board room setting delivering to senior executives both internally and externally to the customer 

Equal Pay Disclosure(s)

Base Pay:

172,800.00 - 216,000.00 USD Annual

Target Annual Short-Term Incentive:

Bonus Plan at 25% (% of Annualized Base Pay)
