What is the opportunity?
As part of the Value Office team, the Senior Director, Personal Banking Delivery PMO will be accountable for the successful delivery of Personal Banking’s project portfolio. This involves leading, directing, and overseeing the activities of the Project Management Office team on projects of very high value (benefit/cost), complexity, and uncertainty, ensuring delivery within approved timeframes, scope, and budget.
You will provide leadership to drive excellence in the project management practice, ensuring high performance, delivery, and implementation. Additionally, you will foster a strong talent pipeline, high employee engagement, a superior client experience, and sustainable value creation for RBC shareholders. You are accountable for ensuring projects align with RBC’s enterprise project management disciplines while continuously assessing and refining processes, approaches, and plans to optimize execution.
What will you do?
Lead a large team of project management directors, project managers, and business analysts, overseeing 65+ FTE as a \"team of teams\" people leader, with a focus on removing roadblocks, capability building, and integrating AI in PM/BA roles
Ensure adherence to enterprise program/project practices, including enabling dotted-line sub-PMOs (Regulatory, Digital, RBC Bank US, Caribbean)
Optimize resource capacity and engage with leaders/project sponsors to ensure initial guardrails for work balance key considerations, including governance requirements
Drive employee engagement and development through performance management, talent/succession planning, change leadership, and reward/recognition programs
Build staffing capabilities and talent pipelines to support evolving program demands and strengthen succession planning for critical roles
Ensure project teams follow RBC’s Program Management Framework, conducting risk assessments, contingency planning, and post-project reviews, while aligning roadmaps and implementation plans with executive approvals
Promote innovation and best practices, drive business value through business case creation and benefit metrics, and ensure project vision translates into executable program scope and design
Cultivate strong stakeholder relationships, deliver superior client experiences, collaborate cross-functionally, and provide timely updates to senior leadership with expertise in operational issues and organizational change management
What do you need to succeed?
Must Have:
Demonstrated leadership ability, including exceptional people management skills and experience building and leading large, high-performing teams that deliver superior results
Ability to manage and articulate thoughts to senior leaders, focusing them on key decisions and outcomes, with advanced negotiation and influencing skills through talent leadership, partnering, and collaboration
Proven track record of maintaining strong relationships across junior and senior stakeholders and demonstrated leadership in cross-unit and cross-functional cooperation and information sharing
Experience leading programs with very high level of value (benefit/cost), complexity, and uncertainty involving multiple stakeholders (e.g., finance, businesses, T&O, Enterprise)
Strong strategic business acumen and flexibility to adapt and pivot as priorities shift
Undergraduate degree (required)
Nice to Have:
MBA
Change Management certification or Agile Management Framework certification
PMP and/or PgMP certification
Experience managing teams responsible for: large, multi-year business projects, projects with third party vendors or projects with significant technical components
