Senior Director, HEF Transformation Product Lead

Job Description

What is the opportunity?

The Senior Director, HEF (Home Equity Finance) Transformation will have full accountability for leading RBC's mortgage digital transformation journey—a critical strategic initiative to strengthen our leading market share position in Canada. This role encompasses oversight of two foundational, interdependent technology transformation programs: homeX and the Linx replacement, both essential to building a more resilient and future-ready business model.

You will lead a complex, multi-stakeholder transformation roadmap that aligns business strategy, technology modernization, and client experience innovation. Partnering closely with a broad set of stakeholders, you will drive the execution and success of our North Star vision: delivering diversified and personalized client mortgage experiences. This includes stewarding key initiatives including the recently launched Digital Pre-Approval application—a competitive differentiator and key milestone in meeting clients on their homeownership journey.

What will you do?

Strategic Leadership & Roadmap Execution:

Lead the transformation of HEF's end-to-end value chain across two critical projects (homeX and Linx replacement), integrating execution across digital, operations, technology, change management, and product.

Own the complex, multi-stakeholder transformation roadmap; orchestrate dependencies and trade-offs across interconnected initiatives.

Define and communicate a bold, compelling product vision that articulates customer value, business impact, and competitive advantage to diverse audiences (team members, stakeholders, executives).

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Governance:

Partner with key business stakeholders and advisory partners to ensure alignment, understand critical interdependencies, and integrate capabilities into a seamless client and advisor experience.

Facilitate connections, negotiate with competing priorities, manage conflicts, and make informed trade-off decisions balancing time-to-market, cost, and value delivery.

Integrate with other RBC lines of business to identify opportunities to partner and build horizontal, re-usable capabilities.

Design & Decision-Making:

Make critical decisions on target state design and execution plans, including pricing, property valuation, adjudication, and risk management strategies.

Leverage data (application, research, analytics, market intelligence) to inform decisions and establish meaningful success criteria.

Identify the greatest value drivers for clients, advisors, and shareholders; predict outcomes and optimize portfolio profitability.

Team Leadership & Culture:

Build and develop a high-performing team that works effectively across functions.

Act as a servant leader—actively listening, removing obstacles, and involving team members in decisions.

Set clear, realistic goals focused on highest-value activities aligned with North Star vision.

Advocate for customer needs and act as a key advisor to multiple enterprise partners.

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

Proven track record creating and delivering complex, multi-disciplinary transformation programs with multiple concurrent workstreams

10+ years of financial services experience

5+ years of strategic leadership experience

Experience partnering with cross-functional teams (technology, operations, sales, legal, risk, compliance)

Ability to translate complex ideas into impactful work streams and measurable outcomes

Strong analytical and credit proficiency; experience leveraging analytics to optimize performance and predict outcomes

Demonstrated ability to lead in ambiguous, high-stakes environments with multiple stakeholders

Curiosity and passion for building end-to-end solutions for clients and advisors

Nice to have:

Home Equity Finance or mortgage industry experience

Previous digital transformation leadership

Experience managing a P&L with deep understanding of portfolio profitability drivers

Experience launching consumer-facing financial products
