Position Details
The Senior Director, Career Services National Aspiring Principals Fellowship will be based out of a home office located anywhere within the contiguous United States (Pacific, Mountain, Central, and Eastern time zones) or United States territories that fall within the Atlantic time zone.
Position Overview
The Senior Director, Career Services, National Aspiring Principals Fellowship (“NAPF” or the “Fellowship”) will co-develop the strategic direction for and lead the implementation of career services supporting program graduates with the Chief National Aspiring Principal Fellowship Officer . The Senior Director, Career Services NAPF will support graduates securing leadership roles aligned with their career aspirations. This role will focus on building systems for tracking graduates' career progress, understanding their professional preferences, and developing strategic partnerships to facili tate job placements. Additionally, the Senior Director, Career Services NAPF will host career services webinars and networking initiatives to support placeme nt efforts for the Fellowship , collaborating with the E xter nal R elations team as needed .
Th e Senior Director, Career Services NAPF reports to the Chief National Aspiring Principal Fellowship Officer.
Specific Responsibilities
Develop and Manage the Graduate Career Life Cycle (40%)
+ Develop and implement a framework for the Fellowship's career services division.
+ Co-develop, operationalize, and assess a comprehensive career placement strategy that includes a theory of action, key drivers, and measurable performance indicators.
+ Develop standard operating procedures and policies related to career services and placements.
+ Design and implement systems to track NAPF graduates' placement information within designated database.
+ Collaborate with the Program Implementation Team to identify critical touchpoints before and after graduation to ensure ongoing support.
+ Manage a caseload of graduates, ensuring individualized support for their job placement and career development needs.
+ Establish methods to capture and analyze graduate preferences regarding geography, position type, and other career-related factors.
+ Collaborate with IHE partners to provide data regarding certification and job placement for program alumni.
+ Monitor key performance indicators for Fellowship alumni placement initiatives, identify opportunities for strategic adjustments when performance deviates from desired targets, and consistently implement recommendations for ongoing growth to elevate overall performance.
+ Work alongside the Fellowship's strategy and operations team to build operational systems to ensure seamless implementation and evaluation
Engage with Alumni and Support Career Development (30%)
+ Develop and implement communications strategy to promote certification attainment and placement for program alumni.
+ Lead the alumni career development and job placement activities, including managing an active job board.
+ Design and implement career support services tailored to the needs of program graduates.
+ Develop and execute engagement strategies to maintain relationships with Fellowship alumni and support their career advancement.
+ Organize networking events and facilitate connections between graduates and potential employers.
+ Gather and analyze perceptual data through alumni and partner feedback surveys to assess placement support effectiveness.
Strategic Partnerships and Employer Engagement (30%)
+ Lead partner acquisition efforts to build relationships with key education sector employers and hiring partners to facilitate graduate placements.
+ Actively cultivate relationships with partners that align with New Leaders’ mission and values, ensuring a network of employers that provide relevant career opportunities for graduates of the Fellowship.
+ Research and identify school districts/CMOs who could benefit from partnering with New Leaders to hire graduates or provide valuable connections.
+ Initiate contact, build rapport, and foster strong relationships with key decision-makers at potential partner organizations.
+ Negotiate partnership agreements, clearly define mutual benefits, and outline responsibilities for both parties.
+ Collaborate with the Fellowship Program Implementation team to align partnership opportunities with the program's focus areas and learning objectives.
+ Maintain strategic alliances with key partners to bolster placement efforts.
+ Work collaboratively with the External Relations team as needed to promote events and respond to funder requests.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Competencies
+ Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree required.
+ Professional Experience: At least 7-10 years of professional experience required.
+ Minimum of 5 years’ experience in career services, job placement, coaching, or related fields.
+ Experience in higher education, certification programs, or leadership development programs
+ Strong background in alumni or community engagement and professional development programming.
+ Familiarity with leadership certification processes and industry expectations in education.
+ Team-Driven: Proven ability to collaborate effectively with individuals across a variety of backgrounds and experiences; must be results-driven while maintaining a collaborative and inclusive leadership style.
+ Mission Alignment: Passionate belief in academic excellence for every student, aligned with New Leaders' mission.
+ Demonstrated ability to build and implement systems for tracking and supporting job placements.
+ Strong networking and relationship-building skills, with experience engaging employers and industry partners.
+ Excellent communication skills, including presentation, writing, and facilitation abilities.
+ Proficiency in career services technology tools such as HubSpot, Salesforce, and Lightcast .
+ Ability to work in a startup-like environment, taking initiative to build new systems and processes.
+ Experience managing partnerships and developing professional development opportunities.
+ Resilience and adaptability in engaging and supporting alumni and partners.
+ Some evening and weekend flexibility may be required for networking and engagement events.
+ Travel may be required on occasion , aligned to New Leaders’ Travel and In-Person Activities policy.
+ New Leaders requires each employee to be fully vaccinated with a COVID-19 vaccination (i.e., at least two weeks have passed since the employee received the dose of a single-dose vaccine or the second dose of a two-dose vaccine with at least the minimum recommended interval between doses) or to obtain an approved exemption or reasonable accommodation through the Human Resources team within six weeks of their start date as a term and condition of employment.
Physical Requirements
The employee's routine activities involve sitting, talking, hearing, and using hands for tasks like typing, filing, and handling objects. Visual acuity is necessary for keyboard use, data analysis, transcribing, computer terminal viewing, and extensive reading. The role may involve ordinary ambulatory skills for visits to other locations or the ability to perform activities like standing, walking, lifting, carrying, and moving light-weight items. Proficiency in hand-eye coordination, along with dexterity in arms, hands, and fingers for tasks like grasping, operating standard office equipment, and learning technical information, is essential.
As needed: Light to medium lifting may be involved, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force for constant object movement.
