We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Database Administrator to join our team. As a Senior Database Administrator, you will leverage your in-depth knowledge and expertise to manage and maintain our database systems, ensuring their performance, availability, and security. You will work on complex projects, analyze diverse data sets, and develop innovative solutions to support our business objectives.
This position can be located at any CGI office in the U.S, preferred location is Fairfax,VA; however, a hybrid working model is acceptable.
. Install, configure, and maintain database management systems (DBMS) such as SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
. Well versed in managing cloud-based database administration, setting up and tearing down the DB environment and managed services.
. Monitor database performance, implement changes, and apply new patches and versions when required.
. Ensure the security of databases by implementing and managing access controls, encryption, and other security measures.
. Perform regular database backups and recovery procedures to protect data integrity.
. Optimize database performance through tuning, indexing, and query optimization.
. Collaborate with development teams to design and implement database solutions that meet business requirements.
. Troubleshoot and resolve complex database-related issues, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption.
. Develop and maintain documentation for database configurations, processes, and procedures.
. Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior database administrators.
. Stay up to date with the latest database technologies and industry best practices.
. Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
. Cloud platform experience is a must, with GCP specifically being preferred
. A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Database Administrator or in a related role.
. Proficiency in database management systems such as SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
. Strong understanding of database security, backup and recovery, and performance tuning.
. Experience with database monitoring and management tools.
. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze and resolve complex issues.
. Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
. Ability to exercise good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for developing solutions.
Desired qualifications/non-essential skills required:
. A Solution Architect or DBA level certification in at least one cloud platform would also be preferred (e.g., Google: Cloud SQL or AlloyDB for Relational and Spanner, Firestore, Bigtable for Non-relational).
. Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
. Experience with High Availability and Disaster Recovery: Specific experience with high availability solutions and disaster recovery planning could be emphasized.
. Experience with Performance Monitoring Tools: Familiarity with specific performance monitoring and analysis could be added.
. Experience with Automation Tools: Mentioning experience with automation tools for database management and deployment, such as Ansible, Terraform, or Jenkins, could be valuable.
. Experience with Data Warehousing: If relevant to the role, experience with data warehousing solutions like Amazon Redshift, Snowflake, or Google BigQuery could be included.
. Experience with Data Modeling: Proficiency in data modeling and database design could be an important qualification, especially if the role involves designing new database systems.
. Soft Skills: While communication and collaboration skills are mentioned, emphasizing other soft skills such as leadership, adaptability, and time management could provide a more rounded view of the ideal candidate.

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $89,600.00 - $198,400.00.
