Senior Counsel - Canadian Wealth Management

Job Description

What is the opportunity?

As a Senior Counsel and member of the RBC Law Group Wealth Management team in Canada, you will be a key Law Group contact in providing complex legal and regulatory advice in respect of certain of the securities distribution/dealer businesses in Canada.

What will you do?

Support a broad range of business partners within Canadian Wealth Management with a focus on certain securities-related businesses

Support the Canadian Wealth Management businesses on new initiatives and projects, new products and account types

Advise on regulatory developments and assist in formulating and executing policies and procedures for the business

Provide legal support on matters such as interpreting and amending account agreements and forms, reviewing client documentation deficiencies, reviewing agreements and advising on the delivery of services to clients

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

Minimum of 7+ years of corporate/securities law experience gained in private practice and/or in-house law department experience

LLB, called to the bar of a Canadian province, membership in applicable law society or bar association

Subject matter expertise in Canadian securities regulation, including knowledge of applicable self-regulatory organizations rules and policies

Strong written, oral communication and presentation skills with the ability to manage contentious issues

Ability to support strategies and persuade/influence senior executives and business partners

Nice-to-have

Self-starter comfortable working in a fast-paced team environment

Demonstrated capability to work independently and collaboratively, including exercising good practical judgment
