Serve as a key contributor within Walmart’s Antitrust Center of Expertise, assuming responsibility for competition/antitrust-related matters as assigned.
Understand Walmart business activities, strategies, and priorities to enable proactive, business-sensitive guidance on antitrust matters.
Proactively identify and develop mitigation strategies to address antitrust risks related to Walmart’s businesses, and partner with internal stakeholders to assess opportunities for strategic use of antitrust law and policy to promote the company’s goals.
Help execute and refine Walmart’s antitrust compliance program, including creating and delivering training for associates and business leaders.
Engage with state and federal antitrust regulators on third-party M&A and conduct matters; partner with internal stakeholders including Litigation in representing Walmart in inquiries, investigations, and litigation by antitrust agencies and private parties; and work with Government Affairs and Regulatory Enforcement teams to track and strategically address emerging political risks as well as proposed state and federal legislation.
Manage antitrust aspects of Walmart’s mergers and acquisition strategy, including obtaining regulatory antitrust clearance when required.
Supervise and manage outside counsel engagement.
Keep current on antitrust-related policy developments and legislative changes that may impact Walmart, and update leadership, business clients and colleagues as appropriate.
What you’ll bring:
7+ years of experience advising on antitrust law and policy, preferably including experience in a multinational company.
JD from an accredited law school.
Highly collaborative with a strong ability to build relationships and engage a broad range of stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to think strategically and independently handle and manage complex and sensitive matters in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Ability to navigate ambiguity effectively, gathering inputs from multiple stakeholders and integrating these into a clear and focused strategy.
Strong communication, writing, negotiation, and presentation skills.
Curiosity and agility in learning new business and legal topics.
Past experience working for a competition enforcement agency is a plus.
