With a strong focus on data-driven decision-making and operational efficiency, E&T Procurement leverages advanced tools and processes to connect the physical and digital supply chain, enabling business units to deliver high-performance solutions that meet evolving customers and business needs. **Job Summary:** In this role you will be a key driver of cost competitiveness and margin performance for our Power and Energy business, leading supplier component cost targets for our products mostly within your assigned region. This role operates at the intersection of suppliers, design control engineers, value chain engineering, and procurement category teams influencing design, sourcing strategy, and supplier engagement across both New Product Introduction (NPI) and production programs. If you are technically grounded and a commercially minded engineer who can translate manufacturing and design complexity into fact-based cost insights, challenge assumptions and deliver measurable financial results in a highly collaborative environment, then apply today! **What you will do:** + Lead advanced technical cost analysis and should-cost modeling for supplier components, identifying primary cost drivers across materials, manufacturing processes, labor, and overhead + Establish and deliver component cost targets by performing gap analysis and driving cross-functional alignment to close cost gaps across NPI and production programs + Influence supplier negotiations by partnering with Category Buyers to develop data-driven cost strategies, support fact-based discussions, and enable value-focused outcomes + Collaborate with Engineering during NPI to influence design-to-cost decisions and educate stakeholders on manufacturability, scalability, and cost trade-offs across diesel and electrification technologies + Engage directly with suppliers to identify and execute sustainable cost reduction opportunities while maintaining technical performance, quality, and delivery expectations + Drive Value Analysis and Value Engineering (VAVE) through cost modeling, design for manufacturability, and leveraging suppliers’ capabilities **What you will have** : **Data-Driven Decision Making** : Extensive knowledge of the data-driven decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to gather and analyze data to make organizational decisions that align with strategic business objectives and goals. **Analytical Thinking** : Extensive knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems. **Interpersonal Relationships:** Extensive knowledge of the techniques and the ability to work and communicate with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner while driving organizational priorities. **Cost-Benefit Analysis** : Extensive knowledge of the principles and tools used in cost-benefit analysis; ability to analyze the purpose and scope of a producer, product, process, or project in terms of cost and benefits. **Additional Information:** + This position can be located in Mossville, IL or Dallas, TX + This role will require 5-day-a-week in office presence. + Domestic travel up to 20% is required. + Domestic relocation assistance is offered for this position.   **About Caterpillar** Caterpillar Inc. is the world’s leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, off-highway diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives.
