Position Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Consultant specializing in Production Accounting and Reconciliation (PAR) to support strategic client engagements in the oil and gas sector. The successful candidate will bring deep expertise in industry-leading production accounting systems, with a proven track record of implementing, configuring, and optimizing these solutions for upstream and refining operations.

This role requires familiarity with major International Oil Company (IOC) and National Oil Company (NOC) environments, production data workflows, material balance reconciliation, and integration with upstream/downstream enterprise systems.

Key Responsibilities
Solution Design & Implementation

Lead the design, configuration, and implementation of Production Accounting and Reconciliation solutions for upstream and refining clients

Develop production accounting models, reconciliation workflows, and data validation rules aligned to client business processes and regulatory requirements

Configure material and volumetric balance calculations, inventory reconciliation, and loss/gain analysis frameworks

Design integration architectures connecting PAR systems with SCADA/historians, ERP systems (SAP, Oracle), and enterprise data platforms

Client Engagement & Advisory

Serve as the subject matter expert on production accounting best practices, advising clients on process optimization and system capabilities

Conduct requirements gathering workshops, gap analyses, and solution architecture sessions with client stakeholders

Develop business cases for PAR investments, including ROI modelling around loss reduction, cycle time improvement, and decision support enhancement

Support pre-sales activities including proposal development, solution demonstrations, and technical due diligence

Technical Delivery & Quality Assurance

Lead technical delivery teams through all project phases: discovery, design, build, test, deployment, and hypercare

Ensure solution quality through rigorous testing protocols, including unit testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing

Develop technical documentation including functional specifications, configuration guides, and operational runbooks

Provide production support, troubleshooting, and performance optimization for deployed solutions

Knowledge Transfer & Capability Building

Mentor junior consultants and build internal capability in production accounting solutions

Develop training materials and conduct end-user training sessions for client organizations

Contribute to reusable assets, accelerators, and methodology enhancements

Required Qualifications
Experience

Minimum 10 years of experience in production accounting, reconciliation, and material balance within the oil and gas industry (upstream E&P, refining, or petrochemicals)

Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with one or more of the production accounting platforms listed above, including configuration, model development, and system administration

Experience working with major IOCs (International Oil Companies) or large NOCs (National Oil Companies) in complex, multi-site environments

Track record of successful full-lifecycle PAR implementations from requirements through go-live

Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing client relationships

Technical Skills

Deep understanding of production data workflows: field data capture, allocation, reconciliation, reporting, and close processes

Expertise in material balance concepts, volumetric calculations, shrinkage/gain analysis, and statistical data reconciliation methods

Strong knowledge of upstream production operations: well testing, metering, custody transfer, LACT units, tank gauging, and allocation methodologies

Familiarity with refinery operations: crude distillation, product blending, tank farms, and pipeline movements (for downstream-focused roles)

Experience with data integration patterns: historian interfaces (OSIsoft PI, Honeywell PHD, AVEVA Historian), SCADA systems, and enterprise data platforms

Proficiency in SQL for data analysis, validation, and troubleshooting

Understanding of industry standards and regulations: API MPMS (Manual of Petroleum Measurement Standards), custody transfer agreements, royalty reporting requirements

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Process Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline

Master’s degree or MBA preferred but not required

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience working with major operators such as supermajors, large independents, or national oil companies

Vendor certifications or formal training in Honeywell PAR, AspenTech AURA/ORA, or equivalent production accounting platforms

Experience with broader production management suites: Movement Management, Blend Optimization, Yield Accounting, and Oil Movement & Storage systems

Experience with cloud-based PAR deployments and modern data architectures (data lakes, APIs, microservices)

Knowledge of adjacent domains: production optimization, advanced process control (APC), process simulation, or digital twin technologies

Familiarity with data historians and real-time data infrastructure (OSIsoft PI, AVEVA PI, Honeywell PHD, AspenTech InfoPlus.21)

PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile certifications for project delivery

Consulting experience with a systems integrator, specialized energy consultancy, or vendor professional services organization
