**JOB DESCRIPTION**
The Senior Construction Estimator – Commercial Buildings is responsible for preparing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for commercial and/or industrial construction projects. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret plans, specifications, and project requirements to determine overall project costs. The Senior Construction Estimator – Commercial Buildings works closely with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and clients to ensure competitive and complete proposals.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Estimate Preparation:
+ Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for all phases of construction.
+ Quantify materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
+ Develop and maintain cost databases, unit prices, and historical cost information.
+ Bid Management:
+ Solicit and review subcontractor and supplier quotations.
+ Evaluate bids for scope coverage, qualifications, and pricing accuracy.
+ Prepare bid proposals and participate in bid reviews and presentations.
+ Preconstruction Support:
+ Collaborate with architects, engineers, and owners during design development to provide cost advice and value engineering solutions.
+ Assist in developing project budgets, schedules, and phasing plans.
+ Documentation & Reporting:
+ Maintain organized records of bids, estimates, and revisions.
+ Prepare takeoffs and cost summaries using estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, ProEst, or Sage Estimating).
+ Present estimates to management and clients with clear supporting documentation.
+ Collaboration & Continuous Improvement:
+ Coordinate with project management and field teams to review actual costs versus estimates for continuous improvement.
+ Stay updated on industry trends, construction methods, and material costs.
**Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is a plus.
+ 5+ years of experience estimating commercial building construction projects. Experience estimating industrial building construction projects is a plus.
+ Experience with construction means, methods, and materials is a plus.
+ Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Excel. Experience with Bluebeam is a plus.
+ Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
+ Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
+ Strong communication, organization, and time management abilities.
+ Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
