Job Title: Senior Buyer
Job Description
The Senior Buyer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing the acquisition of materials and services needed to support projects that operate under strict government compliance requirements. This position ensures that all acquisitions are conducted in compliance with applicable federal regulations, including the FAR. The Senior Buyer plays a key role in supplier negotiations, contract administration, and strategic sourcing to support program and organizational objectives.
Responsibilities
+ Lead complex government procurement activities, managing the full lifecycle procurement for high-value and complex purchases in accordance with FAR and agency-specific regulations.
+ Develop and issue solicitations such as RFQs, RFPs, IFBs, evaluate supplier responses, and make award recommendations.
+ Research market for products and services and review and analyze specifications and/or statements of work.
+ Issue CPSR-compliant purchase orders for government-funded projects.
+ Identify and qualify suppliers capable of supporting government requirements; drive cost-saving and efficiency initiatives.
+ Conduct supplier assessments and lead supplier improvement plans as needed.
+ Negotiate favorable terms and conditions, pricing, and delivery with suppliers.
+ Administer contracts, monitor performance, process modifications, and ensure timely closeouts.
+ Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
+ Identify procurement risks and develop mitigation strategies, supporting internal and external audits.
+ Provide guidance and mentorship to junior buyers or procurement staff.
+ Collaborate with legal, finance, project management, and technical teams to align procurement strategy with program goals.
+ Apply working knowledge of FAR regulations and Public Law and support or lead supplier negotiations when needed.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in FAR and government contract regulations.
+ Associate degree in Business, Accounting, or related field.
+ Minimum of 5 years of experience in a purchasing, accounting, or materials management environment.
+ Experience with U.S. Government contracting procurement regulations, purchasing, procurement, and purchase orders.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Purchasing certification such as CPPB, CPPO, or CPM.
+ Administration and small business liaison experience.
Work Environment
This position is remote, allowing for flexibility in work location.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $37.00 - $45.00/hr.
