Senior Business System Analyst (Capital Markets)

Job Description

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

The candidate for this Business System Analyst role will join the Global Middle Office (GBOI) team under the BCS Technology group of RBC Capital Markets.

This role is primarily responsible for gathering, analyzing, and organizing project business requirements, translating business requirements into comprehensive system functional specification documents, and ensuring the accuracy and completeness of implemented functionalities align with original requirement documents.

The role also includes verifying application post-development functionalities through rigorous analysis, testing, and demonstration


WHAT WILL YOU DO?

Understands GBOI product requirements, business flows, system architecture design, upstream/downstream dependencies, and regulatory policies; determines project requirements by studying business functions, evaluating business processes, and anticipating future requirements.

Gathers information by collaborating with relevant stakeholders including middle office users, front office teams, compliance, and technical teams; performs comprehensive requirement analysis and evaluates output requirements and formats.

Defines project scope by identifying project milestones, phases, and key deliverables; works with the Tech Lead to design new functionalities by analyzing requirements, constructing workflow matrices and diagrams, and assessing system capabilities.

Develops Project Requirement and Functional Specification documents for new business projects; creates Jira stories for new projects and maintains Jira requirements for BAU enhancement initiatives.

Identifies and develops use cases and business flow diagrams to clarify requirements for technical team members; verifies application functionality post-development to ensure accuracy and completeness align with original requirement documents.

Collaborates with the QA team to prepare test scenarios, test data, review QA test plans and test cases.

Supports the Delivery Manager in maintaining Sprint Releases and managing Scrum meetings; monitors project progress by tracking activities, resolving problems, publishing progress reports, and recommending corrective actions; recommends process improvements by identifying issues and documenting enhanced procedures.

Maintains system protocols by writing and updating documentation and procedures; provides user support through written documentation, help desk assistance, and user training.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

Must Have

Degree in business, computer science or related field

A minimum of 5 years of working experience as BA/BSA

Ability to work in a collaborative environment

Skill Required:

Strong written and oral communication skills

Data analytical skill

Hands-on database querying skills

Reporting skills

Problem solving skills

Tools: Confluence Page & Jira, SharePoint, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), MS SQL

Nice to Have

Previous Capital Markets working experience ideally trading or post-trade middle office system

Corresponding academic courses: Business Communication; Management Information Systems, Business Statistics; problem solving skills; Management & Organizational Behavior

Experience evaluating AI/ML use cases for requirement analysis, such as using AI-assisted documentation tools or process automation opportunities.

Knowledge of prompt engineering and AI tool usage for enhancing documentation, analysis, and stakeholder communication.

General understanding of FIX protocol; HP ALM

Past software development experience
