Looking for a candidate who is passionate about using Business Intelligence tools to address business opportunities and turning analytics into insights that lead to better business decisions and great innovations to drive efficiency in business operations and strategic programs.
Key job responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Understand business objectives and provide input and recommendations based on analytical findings.
- Own design, development, and maintenance of ongoing reports and dashboards, and ad hoc analysis to drive business decisions and solve problems.
- Identify business opportunities through data analysis and collaborate with the team to make sound recommendations
- Write high-quality SQL code to retrieve and analyze data, and learn and understand a broad range of Amazon’s data resources. Know how, when, and which to use and which not to use.
- Create and iterate on meaningful metrics and reporting to assess the business (i.e., AIS Page 0, goal metrics, headcount reports, hiring metrics)
- Automate reporting (e.g. weekly or monthly business review reports) and core business operations functions such as using parameters (level, location, business/job title, org, reporting line, kingpin goal ownership, etc.) to quickly create recommended invitee lists and actions that leaders can validate (use case: QBR, monthly goals, OP, etc.).
- Develop portfolio dashboard and simplified intake mechanism for tech innovation.
- Integrate with Data Center Assistant on tools/mechanisms that benefit business operations across DCC.
- Lead deep data mining of headcount productivity data, statistical analyses, and creation of models that can scale.
- Work with Work Pulse core team to develop Page 0 metrics and develop a plan to automate.
Basic Qualifications
- 10+ years of professional or military experience
- 5+ years of SQL experience
- Experience programming to extract, transform and clean large (multi-TB) data sets
- Experience with theory and practice of design of experiments and statistical analysis of results
- Experience with AWS technologies
- Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills.
- Experience with theory and practice of information retrieval, data science, machine learning and data mining
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs
- Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership
- Entrepreneurial spirit: not afraid to invent and try new things, take calculated risks
- Experience converting ambiguous requirements into valuable customer-focused tools focused on delivering data insights
- Experience with Andes (the centralized metadata storage for nearly all of Amazon's global datasets) and BDT query editors (i.e. ETL, Hubble, Datacentral)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $117,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $202,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
