Description
As an airline, safety is our most important principle. And our Corporate Safety team is responsible for making sure safety is top of mind in every action we take. From conducting flight safety investigations and educating pilots on potential safety threats to implementing medical programs and helping prevent employee injuries, our team is instrumental in running a safe and successful airline for our customers and employees. This is position is Chicago-based, hybrid with up to 50% travel.
Job overview and responsibilities
This position supports the UA Corporate Internal Evaluation Program (IEP) which is based upon FAA Advisory Circular 120-59B, UA Corporate Business Manual (CBM), Internal Evaluation Program Manual (IEPM), IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) and Department of Defense (DoD) guidelines. Conducts safety and quality reviews of company systems and programs; international, domestic, and regional code-share partners and evaluates the effectiveness of all UA operating divisions compliance & conformance to standard operating policy, procedure and regulatory requirements.
Conducts special emphasis analysis of operations based on IEP repeat discrepancies, FAA enforcement actions and divisional requestsPlans and performs assessments/audits to measure operational compliance to regulatory requirements, company policies, and procedures covering all airline operating divisionsEvaluates the effectiveness of division policies, procedures, and QC functions to identify areas of concern that could pose an operating risk to personnel, facilities, and equipmentFacilitates root cause identification and corrective action for areas found not to conform with company policy, procedure or regulatory requirementsTrack and manage corrective action commitments and implementationProvides written reports and presentations to operating division senior leaders outlining assessments, observations and findingsAssists in the accomplishment of IOSA, DoD, and other third-party quality and safety reviewsContinuous monitoring and oversight of United Airlines’ International and Domestic codeshare partnerships, United Express carriers, and vendors in accordance with DOT/FAA codeshare safety requirements and corporate policies.QualificationsWhat’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications): Undergraduate degree in technical, safety, aviation related discipline or equivalent work experience required2+ years’ experience with a major passenger, cargo, regional carrier or military equivalent in Flight Operations, Inflight, Dispatch, Maintenance, Cargo, or Airport Operations requiredExperience in quality, safety, or regulatory operations requiredWorking knowledge of pertinent Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR), FAA Advisory Circulars, IOSA Standards and Recommended Practices (ISARPs), ISO 9001 standards, Operations Specifications (Ops Specs), and Department of Defense (DoD) Quality and Safety requirements requiredAbility to travel up to 50% of the timeStrong interpersonal, verbal and presentation skills are requiredMust be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorshipSuccessful completion of interview required to meet job qualificationReliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the positionWhat will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):
Professional certification in quality or safety preferredFAA Airman Certificate (i.e. Pilot, Mechanic, Dispatcher, or Flight Attendant) desiredTechnical manual writing skills

The base pay range for this role is $81,795.00 to $106,602.00.
The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
