The ideal candidate will lead the design and development of a next-generation **AI Gateway** , enabling secure, scalable, and intelligent API interactions across enterprise systems and AI services. **Key Responsibilities:** + **Design and implement API solutions** using Apigee Edge/Hybrid/X, including proxies, policies, and security configurations. + Architect and **build an AI Gateway** that integrates with LLMs, ML models, and AI services (e.g., OpenAI, Azure AI, Vertex AI). + Collaborate with AI/ML teams to expose model endpoints securely and efficiently. + Implement **rate limiting, caching, analytics, and monetization** strategies for AI APIs. + Integrate with identity providers for **OAuth2, JWT, and API key-based authentication** . + Monitor and optimize API performance, scalability, and reliability. + Stay current with emerging trends in API management, AI integration, and cloud-native architectures. **Required Skills & Qualifications:** + 7–10 years of experience in **API development and management** , with at least 3 years in **Apigee** . + Proven experience in **building and scaling API gateways** , preferably with AI/ML integrations. + Strong understanding of **REST, GraphQL, Webhooks** , and **event-driven architectures** . + Hands-on experience with **Apigee policies** , custom scripts, and developer portal configurations. + Familiarity with **AI platforms** (e.g., OpenAI, Hugging Face, Azure Cognitive Services). + Proficiency in **JavaScript, Python, or Java** for API scripting and backend integration. + Experience with **CI/CD pipelines** , containerization (Docker), and Kubernetes. + Knowledge of **security protocols** , including OAuth2, SAML, and API threat protection. **Preferred Qualifications:** + Experience with **Apigee Hybrid or Apigee X** in GCP. + Exposure to **AI model lifecycle management** and **MLOps** . + Certifications in **Apigee** , **Google Cloud** , or **AI/ML technologies** . + Experience with **API monetization** and **developer experience optimization** . + Exposure to agentic frameworks (Google ADK, LangGraph, CrewAI) and Multi-agent orchestration. + Knowledge of Model Context Protocol (MCP) and Agent-to-Agent (A2A) communication patterns. + Working knowledge of Google Cloud Core Infrastructure concepts — networking, IAM, monitoring, and service integration. + Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Terraform automation. **Soft Skills:** + Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. + Excellent communication and stakeholder management. + Ability to mentor junior developers and lead technical discussions. **Employee Type:** Permanent UPS is committed to providing a workplace free of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation.
