EDA Overview
NJEDA’s Senior Advisor – Corporate Engagement is responsible for developing and expanding the Authority’s relationships with large and high-growth companies in the State’s targeted sectors. The role will engage with companies on the State’s overall value proposition, look for opportunities to expand industry ecosystems, and explain how NJEDA products (and programs from other State entities) can help support a company’s growth. This role is also responsible for managing strategies and initiatives to support the overall organic growth of the State’s targeted industries. The Senior Advisor will also provide strategic counsel to NJEDA senior leadership, Choose New Jersey, and the Governor’s Office.
Job Overview
Leads NJEDA’s targeted business engagement efforts with Tier 1 and Tier 2 businesses in key industries, in coordination with NJEDA senior leadership, Choose NJ, and the Governor’s OfficePromotes NJEDA products inside and outside of the State, serving as a senior ambassador to top employers in the state Promotes a culture of high performance, teamwork and communication and encourages a collaborative, customer-focused work environment$110,400 - $117,300
Note: The NJEDA currently offers a hybrid work schedule for up to 2 days of telecommute work from home. To participate, you will be required to have high speed home internet access and a managers approval. This program does not supersede the "New Jersey First Act", which requires newly hired NJEDA employees to establish and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey.
ResponsibilitiesDuties
Daily Tasks and Responsibilities:
Develops a list of targeted Tier 1 and Tier 2 businesses and maintains active relationships with senior leadership at companies to proactively discuss opportunities and challenges for growth in NJUnderstands firm-level and industry-level value-drivers and dynamics across the state’s key sectors and contributes knowledge to the development of public policy and new product offeringsProjects:
Actively engages as a NJEDA senior leader with private sector partners, industry associations, and relevant academic and government stakeholders, including representing EDA on relevant councils and boardsHosts roundtables and other events, in collaboration with other EDA colleagues that convene top business leaders and other stakeholders to discuss key challenges and opportunitiesDevelops industry expertise for EDA through project-based research and analysis, including tracking industry trends at the state, regional, and national level, identifying key industry issues that state government can help resolve, and provides industry and policy updates to internal government stakeholdersGoals and Objectives:
Meet with 3-5 businesses, on average, each week to maintain up to date understanding of business trends, applicability with available EDA products, and industry dynamics that could impact employment base in the stateMaintains timely entries into NJEDA’s CRM system tracking engagements and contactsCollaboration and Cross-Divisional Interaction:
Develops relationships with EDA and other state agency colleagues that fosters a collaborative working relationship so to best respond to Tier 1 corporate challenges as they arise Meets regularly with EDA sector partnership staff and product teams to understand EDA products and identify new products required to meet changing business needsPromotes a culture of high performance, teamwork, and mutual respect and accountability across the divisionReporting Structure:
Reports to the Director, Manufacturing Engagement and meets on a specified cadence to align on engagement priorities Must complete annual self-assessment as required.Performs other duties and special projects, as assigned. QualificationsSkills and Qualifications
Technical Skills:
Strong written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills, and the ability to effectively interface with a broad range of audiencesAbility to quickly master an understanding of EDA’s existing programs and servicesAbility to engage credibly and thoughtfully in conversations with senior government and industry leaders on technical details in various industriesSoft Skills:
Demonstrated ability to self-motivate and self-lead own work planning and execution with a strong results-oriented orientationExceptional history of strong performance and consistent high-quality delivery on commitmentsAbility to adapt to changes in work environment and manage competing demandsDemonstrated proficiency in creative and analytical problem solvingHistory of sound decision making and ability to understand the impact and implications of decisionsExperience:
Seven to ten years of practical business and/or economic development experience Experience in program development, public policy development, and basic financial principlesAdvanced degree or industry specific certification may be substituted for 1 year of experienceEducation:
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a relevant field such as business, economics, finance, policy, or public administrationSoftware/Tools Proficiency:
NJEDA utilizes Microsoft as the core application platform and proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.Additional Information

Certificates and Licenses Required
Staff are required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essentials duties of the position.
