Position Overview

The Senior Accountant is a key contributor to Davey Tree’s financial reporting function. Reporting to the Senior Manager of External Reporting and Analysis, this role supports the preparation and filing of all Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”) reports, including the annual Form 10-K and quarterly Form 10-Q. This position is responsible for preparing calculations and analysis supporting these filings, as well as researching and implementing new accounting pronouncements and assisting with other projects as necessary.

Job Duties Support the preparation of external financial reports, including SEC Form 10-Q and 10-K reports, and prepare supporting schedules underlying the reported financial information Assist with requests from independent auditors related to quarterly reviews and the annual audit Contribute to detailed review of Xtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) tagging of financial statements and footnotes Prepare financial statement analytics for internal control purposes and for review by external auditors Research accounting guidance and assist with implementation of new accounting pronouncements Assist with the preparation of the annual employee benefit plan financial statements and other supplemental financial statements as required Assist with environmental impact reporting Contribute to monthly internal financial reporting process Identify and support opportunities for process improvement and increased efficiency Lead or participate in special projects as needed Minimum Job Requirements Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to meet deadlines without compromising accuracy Strong work ethic, motivated self-starter Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint Experience supporting SEC filings preferred Experience with Workiva preferred Experience with SAP or other ERP systems preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent professional degree Minimum of 3-5+ years of relevant experience, with SEC reporting or public accounting experience strongly preferred CPA license preferred
