As a Senior Accountant in the Finance and Accounting function, you are responsible for ensuring that the financial operations of the organization are well-managed, compliant and transparent. You have a deep understanding in accounting procedures and compliance that allows you to effectively manage financial complexities, ensuring accurate and efficient accounting processes are in place.

This role reports into our Accounting Lead for Mexico and is based out of our Mexico City Support Office.

Job Description

A Day in the Life

Working at H&M means no two days are ever the same, but a typical day will include the following responsibilities*

Ensure that accounting procedures comply with local statutory requirementsPerform month-end closing proceduresResponsible for keeping the books correct and updated according to H&M Group rules and local regulationsIntercompany transactions and reconciliationsRoutines for fixed asset bookings and depreciation calculationsPrepare statutory reporting and statisticsResearch and correct any out-of-balance situations between the GL and sub-ledgerAnalyze, amortize, and reconcile prepaid accountsPrepare assigned journal entriesPrepare assigned general ledger reconciliationsReview general ledger reconciliations prepared by othersPrepare monthly commissionsSupport and assist audits (both internal and external)Maintain contact with other accounting departments in the HUB and Shared Service CenterManual payments and correct reconciliation in the Banks from Payroll and other areas.Check request administrationReconciliation of freight, transport, and customs/duties

Qualifications

Who You Are:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business AdministrationCPA preferred, not required5+ year’s experience in Accounting or Finance, preferably in retail business or similarEnglish level: Intermediate/Advanced (Fluent)Hands-on experience with accounting software packages, preferable in Cadency, Blackline and SAPExperience with general ledger functions and month-end/year-end close processProficiency in advanced accounting principes and techniquesAdvanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and Pivot TablesStrong attention to detailSuperior analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to analyze process flows and data outputsAbility to adapt the way of communication to ensure clarity, engagement and open dialogueUnderstanding global market trends and their impact on financial operations
