Job Description
The Accountant will be responsible for complex accounting tasks, ensuring the accuracy of financial records, maintaining balance sheet schedules, monitoring banking activities, and preparing detailed financial reports. This position is integral to the month-end close process, account analysis, and supporting the finance department in fulfilling its responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Manage general accounting functions and related activities.Oversee the monitoring of bank accounts, assist Accountants with coding transactions.Process EFT payments for carrier payments and distribution to risk bearers.Reconcile monthly premiums and claims activity, assist with reporting to insurance carriers.Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations, review bank statement reconciliations from team members.Analyze current accounting procedures and recommend improvements.Coordinate complex accounting projects and initiatives within the accounting and finance team.Support team members with accounts payables and deposits as needed.Assist with MGU activities, including analysis, application tracking, accounting data management, premium payment, and carrier reporting.Provide assistance to outside auditors by gathering necessary account information and documents.Perform other related duties or ad-hoc special projects as assigned.Essential Skills
Proficiency in reconciliation, month-end processes, journal entry, and general ledger tasks.Advanced Excel skills.Minimum of 3 years of full-cycle accounting experience.Degree in Accounting or Finance.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with Workday is preferred but not required.Experience in the premiums or insurance industry is advantageous.Work Environment
You will be part of a close-knit team of 5 in the accounting department, including a Senior Accountant, Staff Accountant, and Accounting Clerk. The office environment is laid back, with a culture that values taking care of its employees. Initially, the role requires full-time in-office work during the contract duration, with the option to transition to a hybrid model, working three days in the office and two days from home, with flexible WFH days.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.86 - $40.86/hr.
