Senior Accountant
Job Title: Sr. Accountant Job Description We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to facilitate and complete month-end closing procedures, including general ledger reconciliations and journal entries. The role requires the ability to research and determine the most effective means of handling accounting transactions. You will prepare financial statements, analyze variances in the profit and loss statements against budget, and adhere to a month-end closing calendar. This position involves managing accounts within the ERP system for general ledger, accounts payable, and receivables. You will coordinate meetings with the Corporate Accounting Manager and financial analysts to communicate general ledger activity related to department budgets. Supporting the Controller and Corporate Accounting Manager with special projects and workflow process improvements is also a key part of the role. Additionally, you will assist the CFO and Controller with annual external financial audits, state audits, and organization tax return preparation. Developing and maintaining accounting policies in accordance with GAAP is crucial for this position. Responsibilities + Facilitate and complete month-end closing procedures, including general ledger reconciliations and journal entries. + Prepare financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements by department, and statements of cash flow. + Analyze financial statements for variances in the P&L against budget and meet deadlines according to the month-end closing calendar. + Manage accounts within the ERP system for general ledger, accounts payable, and receivables. + Coordinate meetings with Corporate Accounting Manager and financial analysts to discuss general ledger activity related to department budgets. + Support the Controller and Corporate Accounting Manager with special projects and workflow process improvements. + Assist CFO and Controller with annual external financial audits, state audits, and organization tax return preparation. + Research, develop, and maintain accounting policies in accordance with GAAP. Essential Skills + Proficiency in accounting and general ledger management. + Experience in reconciliation and month-end closing procedures. + Ability to prepare and report financial statements. + Knowledge of GAAP and financial statement analysis. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. + 5 – 7 years of accounting experience; public accounting experience is a plus. + Nonprofit accounting experience is a plus.
