The Investment Services Senior Accountant is responsible for moderately to highly complex accounting activities related to the management of fixed assets and project accounting (including Store Design & Construction projects as well as department sponsored projects). The Senior Accountant provides support for project related interactions with Project Managers, Purchasing Managers, Business Analysts, Tax Analysts, Finance teams, Financial Reporting teams, and other various accounting resources. Position reports to Manager, Investment Services.
ResponsibilitiesProject accounting for all assigned functional area(s). This role involves working with teams to ensure all costs are captured and loaded appropriately to either CIP or Fixed Assets within SAP.
Perform CIP analysis and ensure accurate inter-company transfer of fixed asset costs, accumulated depreciation and depreciation expense, as well as all project related expense to the responsible Finance business units monthly
All accounting functions including acquisitions, dispositions, transfers, projections, and the monthly close for each department’s fixed assets
Prepare monthly general ledger reconciliation schedules with the ability to communicate account activity to all levels of management
Prepare monthly and quarterly accounting certification decks and year-end analysis
Perform ad hoc analysis on a regular basis, assist in special projects, and support the development of materials for executive leadershipAbility to review, report and track capital spending, provide financial projections, and advise on budget related issues
Ability to complete, review, and present all quarter-end and year-end Tax reporting from the SAP system, as well as support other ad hoc Tax requests
Review store blue prints and consult with Project Managers to understand store build out and how it impacts Property, Plant, Equipment vs Leasehold Improvements assets loads
Review and analyze current finance processes, making appropriate recommendations for improvements and efficiencies
Interact with the corporate tax department to ensure compliance with Federal, State and Local tax laws
Resolution of SAP Project Accounting and Fixed Asset software issues from a user perspective including support for technology enhancements, break/fix issues, and any necessary ad hoc testing
Become familiar with current BBW Capitalization Policy and act as a resource for the team on all capitalization/expense issues
Qualifications3-5 years Accounting and/or Finance experience
Seasoned analytical, system and accounting skills (strong understanding of GAAP)
Ability to prepare all work in a timely manner with high level of attention to detail
Excellent verbal and written communication & presentation skills
Strong organizational, prioritization and time management skillsProven ability to multi-task and work independently; able to meet all deadlines and handle multiple objectives in a fast-paced environment
SAP-enabled process experience/skills
PC skill proficiency including Microsoft Word, Excel and Access
EducationBachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting is required
Advanced degree or CPA a plus
