 What you'll do: 

 

As a Sr. SRE SWE IC, you independently manage medium-sized projects from inception to completion. You collaborate with teams to develop and maintain scalable systems and services, contributing to both initial and larger project designs. You identify and resolve issues in large service areas, handling escalations and triaging as needed. Through this role you have an opportunity to design and develop intuitive software that meets and exceeds the needs of the customer and the company. 

Develop scalable, reliable, and efficient designs, along with data-supported proposals. 

Independently manage end-to-end tasks for larger, multi-quarter projects, delivering high-quality outcomes with minimal senior assistance. 

Exhibit operational expertise in addressing production issues and changes. 

Independently plan and execute project work, manage priorities, and maintain steady progress without supervision. 

Assess systems or services holistically to identify the most impactful areas for improvement. 

In this role it would be important for you to professionally maintain all codes, best practices and create updates regularly to address the customer’s and company’s concerns 

You will show your skills in analyzing and testing programs/products before formal launch to ensure flawless performance 

Troubleshooting coding problems quickly and efficiently will offer you a chance to grow your skills in a high-pace, high-impact environment. 

Software security is of prime importance and by developing programs that monitor sharing of private information, you will be able to add tremendous credibility to your work 

You will also be required to seek ways to improve the software and its effectiveness. 

Participate in hiring and build teams enabling them to be high performing agile teams. 

You will be called upon to support the coaching and training of other team members to ensure all employees are confident in the use of software applications 

Challenges you will take on: 

Identify and resolve technical issues based on defined requirements, recommending innovative improvements that prioritize simplicity, maintainability, and reduced manual effort. 

Handle escalated issues or triage as needed, and manage more complex problems independently. 

Recognize and address significant issues in large or complex production areas, driving the solution from design to impact assessment. 

Leadership/Influence we will need from you: 

Collaborate within and across teams to share knowledge on a wide range of tasks. 

Identify key stakeholders and build networks to enhance cross-team collaborations. 

Lead medium-sized projects or small services, mentoring and training junior SREs. 

Communicate timelines, goals, and objectives for project components, understanding their fit within related projects, including dependencies and upstream/downstream implications. 

SME duties you will have: 

Serve as the subject matter expert for a production area or software, providing guidance and making decisions for that domain. 

Continuously enhance knowledge of job-related skills, technologies, and methodologies (e.g., reliability monitoring, alerting, documentation, integration testing, production hygiene, and support duties), along with an understanding of related areas within Walmart. 

 

 
What you'll bring: 

Bachelor’s/Master's degree in Computer Science or related technical field. 

Minimum 6 years of object-oriented programming experience in Java, Spring boot, Microservices, and Data Structures. 

5 years of experience in systems design, algorithms, and distributed systems. 

Have programming experience preferably in the Finance/ retail / ecommerce industry. 

Python knowledge would be an added advantage 

Exposure to cloud infrastructure, such as Open Stack, Azure, GCP, or AWS 

Ability to review technical designs with a focus on reliability, efficiency, simplicity, and maintainability. Design solutions to address team needs or incidents, considering multiple approaches. Understand constraints, identify solutions, and defend designs. 

Practice production excellence: Maintain standards of the team towards production excellence. Assist in defining improved standards for production excellence within a team. 

Promote insights, best practices, and standards to improve team operations. Advocate for and drive adoption of SRE solutions for systems design and management. 

Knowledge of systems architecture, design patterns, and their trade-offs including centralized, hierarchical, and distributed paradigms 

Analyze data to draw conclusions, generate solutions, evaluate outcomes, and develop action plans, adding value by identifying opportunities and gaps in systems and workflows. 

Debugging: Diagnose, triage, and fix system issues by conducting root cause analysis, isolating problems, and collaborating across teams to prevent recurrences. 

Simplification: Ability to identify if/when a process or system should be automated, simplified, or converged with alternative solutions, as well as the design and execution of such simplification, including recognizing when it remains more cost-efficient not to simplify (e.g., avoiding premature optimization). 

Systems Thinking: Analyze problems at the system level, considering interrelations and broader contexts. 

Tooling and Systems Risk Management: Anticipate, assess, and manage risks to improve resilience, reliability, and user trust 

Experience working in Agile Methodology 

Experience using CI/CD, tools for logging and metrics 

A continuous drive to explore, improve, enhance, automate and optimize systems and tools. 

Strong computer science fundamentals in data structures and algorithms 

Exposure to information retrieval, statistics, and machine learning. 

Excellent oral and written communication skills. 

Good analytical and problem-solving skills
