Senior, Data Engineer (Data Strategy) - Trade, Origin & Cost
Position Summary...Catalog Intelligent Solutions is a business platforms strategy team that turns item, origin, trade, and operational data into intelligence for Merchandising, Finance, and Operations. We define shared data and decision capabilities that other products and platforms rely on — from how we represent where products come from and how they move through upstream supply chains, to how those signals inform duty, cost, compliance, and operational decisions. The Origin, Trade & Cost Intelligence capability brings together product identity, country-of-origin, upstream traceability context, and commercial signals to support tariff and cost analytics, sourcing and negotiation decisions, regulatory readiness, and network and assortment planning. We partner closely with product, engineering, and analytics enablement teams to ensure our designs fit into a coherent, enterprise-wide data ecosystem.

What you'll do...Location: Bentonville, AR (In-person) Organization: Merchandising Transformation – Catalog Solutions About the role Trade, origin/traceability, and cost signals often come from multiple systems, at different levels of detail, with different “truths.” In this role, you’ll work directly in the data and partner across business, product, engineering, and analytics teams to define reusable datasets, clear rules, and practical quality checks that teams can adopt with confidence. What you’ll do Lead discovery with partner teams to turn real-world use cases into clear data requirements and acceptance criteria.Evaluate solution paths: when to use existing catalog-linked data, when to extend it, and when another approach is smarter.Define consistent meanings for key fields and metrics (scope, timing, grain), especially where data is fragmented or contradictory.Create reusable reference assets that speed up delivery: canonical field definitions, example queries, reconciliation logic, sampling plans, and quality rules.Use SQL to validate assumptions, quantify gaps, and pressure-test edge cases before decisions get baked into downstream tools.Partner with engineering and analytics teams to translate definitions into scalable implementations—and stay involved through adoption to ensure the result is usable and trusted. You’ll sweep us off our feet if you… Are exceptional in SQL and can quickly diagnose what’s happening across large, messy datasets.Have strong data modeling instincts and can turn ambiguity into clean, testable logic.Know how to resolve competing sources with clear reasoning—and document decisions so they stick. Can communicate clearly with both business and technical teams, including tradeoffs, risks, and what’s needed to move forward.Have the judgment to say “this is not the right system for this” and steer teams toward better options. Preferred qualifications Experience with large product datasets (catalogs/item files) and/or supply chain item data.Exposure to trade, duty/tariffs, landed cost, sourcing, logistics, origin/traceability, or compliance data.Experience creating shared datasets/definitions used across multiple teams.
