In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority, patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at VIHA; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reporting to the Coordinator and working as part of an interdisciplinary team, provides group or individual therapy in inpatient, emergency and other Mental Health, adult and community programs using a variety of modalities and in accordance with professional standards and clinical policies and practices. The psychologist will take a lead role to provide specialized psychotherapy services specific to an assigned service area.

QUALIFICATIONS:Education, Training And Experience

Ph.D. in Clinical or Counselling Psychology. Current licensure in a practicing category with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC as a Psychologist. Minimum of five (5) years of recent related experience working with adult clientele in mental health and addictions facility or related field. Experience with short-term treatment and group psychotherapy work. Specific expertise and experience with treatment in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy is essential. Knowledge of and experience with treatment specific to crisis stabilization, urgent response and Borderline Personality Disorder, such as Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, will be an important asset. Valid BC Driver's license.
