In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reporting to the Manager of Rehabilitation and as a member of the inter-disciplinary health care team, the physiotherapist has authority and responsibility for management and operation of the services in accordance with professional, hospital and Island Health objectives, policies and standards. The physiotherapist is responsible for ascertaining, interpreting and implementing all institutional policies and procedures as they apply to the rehabilitation service.

Therapy services will be provided for inpatients and outpatients within the hospital setting and in the community. Services include assessment, treatment, consultation and education. The physiotherapist will work with other health care professionals, agencies and the community to provide enhanced patient care services including 'wellness' programs and community education related to health.

QUALIFICATIONS:Education, Training And Experience

Graduation from a recognized university program in Physiotherapy. Current licensure in a practicing category with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC as a Physiotherapist. Eligible for membership in the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA). Knowledge of current physiotherapy modalities and scope of practice; knowledge of the processes related to continuous quality improvement; knowledge of business management practices related to the operations of hospital services. Five (5) years' recent related experience; experience in rural/remote setting preferred; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Skills And AbilitiesProvide professional and administrative leadership.Demonstrates clinical competence congruent with the service areas.Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, delegate, coordinate and evaluate services.Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, staff, other health care providers, community agencies and the public.Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.Ability to deal with others effectively.Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.Ability to operate related equipment.
