Job Title: Scientist II - Antibody ConjugationJob Description We are seeking a dedicated Scientist II to join our Antibody Conjugation team on the 2nd shift in Carlsbad, CA. You will play a vital role in the production of fluorescent labeled bioconjugates, which are essential for cell signaling research initiatives. Responsibilities + Perform conjugation of monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies. + Execute accurate and aseptic lab techniques, maintaining good documentation practices and adhering to good manufacturing practices. + Utilize general lab equipment such as centrifuges, spectrophotometers, and pipettes. + Conduct chromatography, buffer and reagent preparation, and use FPLC (AKTA) systems. + Initiate and manage Problem Reports for both planned and unplanned deviations and failures/nonconformities. + Act as an agent of change and provide leadership for peers. + Accurately document and complete all manufacturing batch records independently. + Create and revise documentation related to the department by opening change orders. + Navigate laboratory database systems efficiently. + Follow verbal and written instructions meticulously. + Ensure a clean and safe work environment is maintained. + Adhere to all departmental SOPs, guidelines, and procedures. + Address issues promptly and effectively. Essential Skills + Bachelor's degree in chemistry or biological science. + 2+ years of experience in cellular or microbiology laboratory techniques in a manufacturing or R&D environment. + Proficiency with chromatography techniques. + Understanding of GLP and GMP processes and documentation. + Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with AKTA machines and bioconjugation is preferred. + Experience with fluorescently labeled antibodies. + Experience owning problem reports, deviations, or CAPAs. + Experience opening or revising change orders. + Familiarity with laboratory database systems/LIMS. + Background in biotech or life sciences manufacturing. + Demonstrated contributions to continuous improvement. + Informal leadership or peer mentoring experience. Work Environment This position is based in Carlsbad, CA, working a 40-hour week from Monday to Friday on the 2nd shift. The role involves regular sitting, standing, walking, talking, and hearing, as well as handling chemicals and lifting weights up to 20 pounds, with occasional assistance required for heavier items. The work environment requires adherence to safety practices to manage fumes, airborne particles, and toxic chemicals. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Carlsbad, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $33.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
