Job Title: Scientist I - Sample Management and ProcessingJob Description Join our innovative Genomic Technologies (GTECH) lab team at the forefront of genomic research and discovery. We seek a highly organized Sample Management and Processing Scientist I to support reverse translation projects focused on gDNA isolation from clinical samples across multiple therapeutic areas. This role involves executing manual and automated workflows for nucleic acid extraction, quality control assessments, and maintaining detailed documentation, ensuring the integrity and utility of isolated gDNA for downstream analyses. Responsibilities + Adhere to department and company standard operating procedures for communication, lab operations, project reporting, and lab safety. + Perform nucleic acid extraction, quality control, and data interpretation with minimal supervision, aligned with project timelines. + Attain operational proficiency for daily functions within training schedules. + Troubleshoot wet lab tasks independently and collaboratively. + Maintain clear and accurate documentation of all processes. + Communicate project progress, completion, and data through reports and presentations. + Record and document wet lab processes in LIMS and project management applications timely. + Support the development and testing of LIMS workflows. + Maintain instrumentation according to laboratory standards. Essential Skills + BS degree in Genetics/Genomics or related field with 4 years of relevant experience, or MS degree with 2 years of relevant experience. + Experience with nucleic acid workflows from cells, tissues, blood, and other biofluids. + Experience with nucleic acid quality control and data analysis, including fluorescence quantification and integrity analysis. + Proficiency in micropipetting and wet lab automation. + Adherence to SOPs and lab guidelines, with timely reporting of deviations. + Strong computer skills, especially in Microsoft Office Suite. + Self-directed to deliver timely results in a fast-paced environment. + Strategic project planning and critical thinking to resolve problems. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with low and high throughput sample tracking and data management (LIMS). + Experience with maintaining workflows on automation platforms. + Experience in a CLIA certified or regulated laboratory environment. + Experience in clinical writing and editing documents/manuals. + Ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team environment. + Capacity to learn new methodologies quickly and drive workflow innovation. + Effective and efficient communication skills. Work Environment The work environment is dynamic and fast-paced, requiring collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. The lab utilizes cutting-edge genomic technologies and automation platforms to facilitate scientific discovery. Attention to detail and adherence to lab safety and operational standards are critical. The dress code is professional lab attire, consistent with safety guidelines. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of North Chicago, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $31.00 - $31.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
