Job Description

As a Scientist, you will be responsible for formulating buffers and reagents for biotech applications within a clean manufacturing environment. You will work with scales ranging from 100 µL to 2,000 L, and you will handle and dilute nucleic acids using advanced techniques. The role requires adherence to safety protocols, including wearing PPE, and involves quality control testing, troubleshooting, and protocol development.

Responsibilities

Formulate buffers and reagents for biotech applications at scales from 100 µL to 2,000 L.Lift and move objects up to 50 pounds while wearing appropriate PPE such as face masks, lab coats, and gloves.Isolate and dilute nucleic acids, including RNA and DNA, using pipetting and spectrophotometric techniques.Perform quality control testing on buffers and nucleic acids, including pH, conductivity, and nucleic acid purification using magnetic beads and quantification by qPCR.Troubleshoot manufacturing and quality control activities and document results in technical reports.Revise and edit existing manufacturing protocols and participate in the development of new product protocols.Participate in Practical Process Improvement (PPI) projects, including kaizens.Manage manufacturing metrics aimed at process control and productivity savings.Prioritize and schedule work to ensure on-time delivery.Manage inventory accurately and optimally.Collaborate with peers from various groups.Train co-workers in the use of instrumentation, manufacturing processes, and software.Adhere to ISO guidelines and USDA regulations.Maintain a positive demeanor to contribute to a healthy work environment.Work with chemicals safely and effectively.

Essential Skills

Experience with PCR techniques, including running plates, gels, and machines.Proficiency in wet chemistry techniques such as titrations.Ability to handle large-scale formulations.1-3 years of work experience in a lab environment.Experience in molecular biology and quality control methods.Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry or a related field.

Work Environment

The position is fully onsite, with working hours from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. There is potential for overtime.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Austin, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.50 - $26.50/hr.
