Acentra Health is looking for a Scientist, Senior to join our growing team.


Job Summary:

The Data Scientist, Senior is responsible for applying advanced health services research, epidemiologic methods, and data science techniques to support organizational goals and objectives. Conduct investigative work, collect and analyze complex datasets—including healthcare claims and clinical data—and apply rigorous analytic approaches to enhance the output of clinical and operational decision-making tools. Responsibilities include developing and supporting analyses, translating findings into actionable recommendations for complex issues, and contributing scientific and technical expertise to evaluate programs designed to measure the success of cooperative projects.


Responsibilities:

Design and execute research experiments in compliance with established protocols.Contribute to cooperative project design, including identifying key areas of study, defining analytic approaches, and calculating appropriate sample sizes.Lead and support investigative analyses involving healthcare claims data, quality and utilization measures, case review outcomes, and pattern analysis to inform physicians, providers, beneficiaries, and internal stakeholders.Assist in designing evaluation mechanisms and methodologies to measure the impact and success of cooperative projects and interventions.Design, write, and produce high-quality feedback reports, dashboards, manuscripts, and other publishable documents for internal and external audiences.Conduct literature reviews to inform analytic methods, intervention design, feedback tools, and data collection instruments.Collaborate with health services researchers, biostatisticians, data scientists, and clinical experts to strengthen Acentra’s competitiveness for grants and contribute to scientific publications.Promote and maintain effective professional relationships within and across departments at Acentra Health, as well as with external customers and partners.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Statistics, Health Services Research, Data Science, or a related field. Significant relevant experience may also be considered in lieu of educationAdvanced experience working with healthcare claims data (medical, pharmacy, eligibility) and familiarity with quality, utilization, and performance measures (e.g., HEDIS, AHRQ QIs, readmissions, utilization metrics).Proficiency with modern data science and statistical software, including R, Python, SQL, SAS, and data visualization/reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).

Preferred Qualifications

Proficiency in statistical software and data analysis tools.Strong communication, quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Ability to work effectively on multidisciplinary teams with individuals from diverse clinical, technical, and experiential backgrounds.Knowledge of healthcare systems, managed care, population health, and related issues.
Experience with research methodology, study design, program evaluation, and quality improvement frameworks is desirable.
