Job DescriptionSeize your opportunity to make a personal impact as a Scientific Research Technologist/Programmer on a team delivering administrative, scientific, technical and logistical support to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Division of Program Coordination, Planning, and Strategic Initiatives (DPCPSI). You will be part of a new team supporting the NIH DPCPSI Office of Research Innovation, Validation and Application (ORIVA). Responsibilities include tool development and performing web and database curation and management to support utilizing modeling methods such as computational approaches and New Approach Methodologies (NAMs). Your team will drive research efforts using nonanimal approaches and other innovative technologies to advance human-centered research across NIH.

Be an integral part of scientific team including researchers, data analysts and programmersDevelop software applications and tools to support non-animal research methods, such as cell lines and computational modelsDesign, implement, and optimize computational models and simulations to facilitate research experiments and data analysisCollaborate with researchers, biostatisticians, and data analysts to translate scientific requirements into functional software solutionsWHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Required:
MA/MS in a relevant field and 6+ years of professional experience supporting tool development and performing web and database curation and managementExperience in writing and maintaining clean, efficient, and well-documented codeExperience in data processing, analysis, and visualization to support research findings and derive insightsExperience ensuring software and computational models adhere to scientific and regulatory standardsExperience testing, debugging, and improving existing software applications to enhance functionality and performanceProficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, Java, C++, or similarFamiliarity with bioinformatics tools, databases, and resourcesProviding quality assurance on deliverables and timely deliveryStrong verbal and written communications skillsExcellent problem-solving skills and attention to detailPreferred:
Experience in NAMs or a related scientific fieldExperience with tool development for modeling methodsFamiliarity with biology/toxicology modeling and AI approaches (e.g., ML, expert systems, computer vision)Experience with machine learning algorithms and their applications in biological researchKnowledge of database management and SQLExperience with cloud computing platforms and tools (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud)Previous experience with Health and Human Services (HHS) and/or NIHLocation: Onsite
