Scientific Director, Exploratory Biomarkers & Omics

Your new role

As our new Scientific Director, you will work in close collaboration with scientific, clinical, and data‑focused stakeholders to translate complex biological insights into clear value for projects and the broader R&D portfolio. Operating with a high degree of independence, you will influence strategic direction and contribute significantly to shaping Novo Nordisk’s future pipeline.

 

Your work tasks will include:

Exploratory biomarker & omics data generation Drive interpretation and selection of what, how and which exploratory biomarkers and omcis that are generated Disseminate findings to inform scientific strategy and optimise future HBS use. Lead and support exploratory data‑generation initiatives, ensuring robust, high‑quality, scalable processes. Maintain oversight of timelines, quality goals, ethical requirements, and budgets aligned with project plans. Ensure compliance with Novo Nordisk Quality Systems, Business Ethics, and HBS governance. Author and review strategic and regulatory documents (EC submissions, contracts, exploratory analysis plans). Assess conditions for prospective integration of biomarkers and omics outputs into clinical trials. Contribute to biomarker sections of strategic documents (TA strategies, PDPs, IBs, CTRs, submission dossiers).

 

Your new department       

The Exploratory Biomarkers & Omics department drives the generation and use of data from human biosamples from our clinical trials.

 

Your skills & qualifications

We're seeking candidates who fulfil the following prerequisites:

You hold a PhD, MD, or equivalent advanced scientific degree. You have minimum 8 years of relevant pharma/biotech experience with deep biomarker/omics expertise. You have a strong scientific grounding, ideally in cardiometabolic or related therapy areas. You have experience with biomarker analysis, omics technologies, and data interpretation. You have a solid understanding of clinical development and regulatory processes. You have a background in interdisciplinary, international, project‑oriented environments.

 

As a person you are a clear, engaging communicator who is proactive, structured and able to work independently. You thrive in dynamic, cross‑functional settings, bring strong integrity and cultural awareness, and foster collaboration across teams. You consistently deliver high‑quality work within agreed timelines.
