This announcement will be used to fill a Special Teacher- School Social Worker position at the MN State Academies. This is a ten month per year position; the work schedule follows the school calendar and includes 3 weeks in July for the summer school program. This position requires the following: + The incumbent in this position will function as a school social worker and provide direct and indirect counseling services to students at the Minnesota State Academies; to provide consultative services to educational and residential staff and parents. + Coordinate services between MSA and outside providers and agencies **Minimum Qualifications** + Must possess a current Minnesota license in School Social Work from the Minnesota Department of Education and the Minnesota Board of Social Work OR the ability to obtain licensure by the date of hire. + Must have experience with counseling practices, excellent human relations skills, knowledge and skills working with K-12 students. + Must show professional integrity, maintain code of professional ethics, and handles confidentiality appropriately and professionally. **Preferred Qualifications** + Knowledge and skills in working with deaf/hard of hearing and/or blind/visually impaired and/or deaf/blind students. + Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL). **Physical Requirements** + Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (with assistance) and be able to sit, stand, walk throughout the workday **Additional Requirements** This position requires successful completion of the following: + Employment is contingent upon a successful criminal background check within the past 12 months AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER Minnesota State Colleges and Universities is an Equal Opportunity employer/educator committed to the principles of diversity.
