Become a Contract Test and Commissioning Senior Manager at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you’ll provide strategic oversight of contractors and suppliers throughout construction, testing, and commissioning activities to ensure work meets SCE’s standards for quality, safety, and compliance. You’ll lead the review and approval of financial obligations, commissioning reports, and equipment test results, while serving as the Authorized Edison Representative (AER) for managing source contract vendors. You’ll play a critical role in delivering successful substation projects across SCE’s service territory. Responsibilities Provides strategic oversight of SCE, Contract and Supplier resources throughout construction, testing, and commissioning to ensure all work meets SCE standards for quality, safety, and compliance. Provides safety leadership and direction in the development of programs and processes to eliminate injuries, accidents, and performance errors, ensuring compliance with safety rules, policies, and practices. Leads the development resource planning to support capital projects and regulatory maintenance to ensure completion of all regulatory maintenance; oversees staffing strategics and partners with internal teams to ensure equitable Collective Bargaining Agreement application. Reviews commissioning reports, engineering standards, equipment test results; validates, authorizes, and tracks construction and commissioning scope to ensure timely completion and regulatory compliance. Makes strategic and operational decisions that support grid operations, and system reliability, including responding to infrastructure replacements, major equipment failures, and emergencies. Manages supervisors and/or field crews who install and maintain substation assets, including protective relays, automation schemes, circuit breakers, and transformers. Oversees allocated portions of capital budgets; identifies and executes substation infrastructure replacements, vehicle investments, and capital equipment purchases. Provides technical support for infrastructure replacement strategies, regulatory and compliance requirements, and equipment repair initiatives. Collaborates with internal/external stakeholders and customers to resolve issues, mitigate risks, and drive execution within scope, schedule, and budget while advancing safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance. Performs other duties as assigned to support organizational and project objectives. A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity. Minimum Qualifications Five or more years of experience supervising a team of direct reports and/or project management. Experience in leading electric transmission systems operations. Possess a valid Class C Driver’s License.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

 

Bachelor’s degree in a STEM related field. Experience in developing or managing equipment commissioning guidelines. Experience in planning, design, construction, maintenance, standards development, operations, testing commissioning or engineering of substations. Experience with vendor/contract management including proposals, bids, and purchase orders. Experience with CPUC, WECC, NERC Transmission & Distribution requirements. Experience in developing and delivering technical presentations to both technical and non-technical audiences and to Senior Leadership teams. Experience using Lean Six Sigma, or other quality management systems. Experience leading with cross-functional teams to improve business processes.

 

 

Additional Information

 

 

This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs. Position will require up to 60% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory.  This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position – Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties. Relocation does not apply to this position.
