Job Title: Saw OperatorJob Description

We are seeking a skilled Saw Operator to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. You will be responsible for cutting metals down to order specifications using band saws and metal saws. The work primarily involves aviation-grade metals, with occasional marine-grade materials. You will also handle materials with a forklift and ensure precise measurements and data entry.

ResponsibilitiesBecome an expert in the mechanical operation of one or more saws in the service center.Process orders according to customer cut-to-size specifications.Ensure orders are processed per specification and on time without exception.Pull and stage material to be processed at the saw.Retrieve material from the plate racks using a fork truck.Measure material to exact requirements.Enter data for the exact specifications onto the appropriate form for data entry into the computer.Safely and properly operate cranes, fork trucks, and apply safe rigging.Assist in the packaging and receiving of shipments and in weekly inventory cycle counts.Use precision when operating tools such as tape measures, micrometers, nibblers, and calipers.Keep immediate work area clean and organized throughout the day.Adhere to safety rules, regulations, and quality standards.Follow all company handbook policies and procedures.Essential SkillsHigh school diploma or equivalent.Two or more years of related experience or training working with saw and/or machinery.One or more years in the metals service center industry.Basic Microsoft Office proficiency, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.Good written and oral communication skills.Good organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.Ability to measure using different tools.Ability to read and calculate numbers and data.Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction.Operate with high integrity, maintaining positive relations with co-workers, customers, and suppliers.Strong work ethic; self-motivated.Additional Skills & QualificationsOne or more years of experience in the metals service center industry.Why Work Here?

Work Environment

Work in a non-climate controlled but comfortable warehouse environment. The facility is equipped with heaters for winter and large fans for summer. Shift options include 2nd shift from 2pm-10:30pm and 3rd shift from 10pm-6:30am. The workplace prioritizes safety and efficiency while fostering a collaborative atmosphere.

The pay range for this position is $39520.00 - $43680.00/yr.
