The purpose of this job is to locate and stage material, set up and operate saws to meet quality and production requirements, perform light maintenance, and complete required paperwork.
ResponsibilitiesSet up and operate band saw machines to cut metal stock pieces to specified dimensions.Adjust speed/feed rate and tension of the blade using control settings.Install saw blade and set blade tension and cutting speed for specified operations.Set saw blade angle to obtain desired angle cuts using a wrench.Set stops and guides to control the dimension of cut using a steel rule and wrenches.Position and secure stock against stops or in feeding devices.Start the flow of coolant against the cutting area and start the machine.Observe machine operation and replace defective cutting blades or wheels using hand tools.Mount pieces in holding devices and ensure proper use of saws.Operate saws to cut along scribed or measured dimensions.Verify dimensions of finished workpieces using calipers and measuring tape.Operate overhead cranes.Clean operated equipment and perform light day-to-day maintenance.Notify maintenance technicians of any needed repairs and inform managers of potential safety concerns.Essential SkillsExperience in production and saw operation.Ability to operate machinery with attention to detail.Proficiency in using a tape measure and machine operation.Basic shop math skills.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in metal fabrication.Ability to read, write, and speak English.Why Work Here?Join a globally recognized company with over 10,000 employees in 30 countries, offering stability and longevity as most employees have been with the company for over 20 years.
