Job Title: Saw Operator

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Saw Operator to join our team on the 2nd shift (3 pm to 1 am, Monday through Thursday, with Fridays as needed). Training will initially occur on the 1st shift (5 am to 3 pm, Monday through Thursday, and Friday and Saturday as needed) for several weeks. The shift start time is somewhat flexible, ranging from 1 am to 5 am. This role involves cutting stock of various sizes, up to 36 inches in diameter, using band or circular saws. The successful candidate will be responsible for reading blueprints to determine the required size and shape of the final product, and then cutting the raw material accordingly to maximize output.

Responsibilities

Read tape measures to cut stock at precise lengths (1/16th inch).Operate machinery according to training documents.Understand and adjust machine controls to maintain proper part sizes.Read and understand blueprints/shop drawings.Install saw blades and position guards properly.Set up saw operations using appropriate tools.Load and unload parts being cut.Adjust machines to produce precise sizes and shapes.Calculate the best way to cut raw material blocks using basic math.

Essential Skills

Experience in machine operating.Proficient in using a tape measure.Experience in heavy manufacturing.Strong math and measurement skills.

Work Environment

This role is based in a graphite machine shop, which is a very dirty and potentially dusty environment. The temperature may vary, being cold in winter and hot in summer. You will work in a team environment with typically five employees per shift. Positions are available on the 2nd shift, with opportunities to transfer to the 1st shift as needs arise. The company provides uniforms and shower facilities for employees wishing to clean up after work.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Denver, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
