This position ensures saws are maintained to precise specifications to maximize lumber recovery, production efficiency, and safety while minimizing downtime. Key Responsibilities + Inspect, maintain, and sharpen band saws, circular saws, and chipper knives + Hammer, tension, level, and align saws to manufacturer and mill specifications + Diagnose and correct saw performance issues (lead, dish, cracking, vibration) + Change and prepare saws for production, ensuring proper setup and tracking + Maintain accurate filing, grinding, and tensioning standards + Monitor saw wear and recommend replacement or repair as needed + Maintain filing room equipment and tools in safe working condition + Work closely with sawyers and maintenance personnel to address production issues + Follow all safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, and PPE requirements + Keep filing room clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards Qualifications + High school diploma or equivalent (technical training preferred) + Previous saw filer experience in a hardwood or softwood sawmill preferred + Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail + Ability to read measuring tools and understand tolerances + Knowledge of saw steel behavior and wood cutting characteristics + Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Physical Requirements + Ability to stand for extended periods + Lift and handle saws and tools (up to 50 lbs) + Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination + Ability to work in a hot, noisy, industrial environment If interested in this position, submit your resume to platteville@careerpros.com APPLY TODAY!
