The Sales Manager is responsible for driving revenue growth, expanding market presence, and building strong customer relationships. This role involves implementing and enhancing a proven sales framework that is repeatable, dependable, and scalable. The framework integrates strategy, methodology, and analytics with the sales team to establish a clear path for long-term growth. The position also requires a hands-on leadership style, managing key strategic accounts while mentoring the sales team to achieve shared success. Additional responsibilities include coaching, onboarding new sales personnel, and ensuring internal sales processes are efficient and effective.
ResponsibilitiesDefine strategic direction for the sales team and leverage core business strengths to deliver exceptional results and exceed customer expectations, emphasizing ROI in each transaction.Develop strategic sales initiatives by identifying promising industries and high-potential companies, and crafting plans to promote core value propositions.Establish and manage a customer portfolio strategy, identifying ideal partners and creating action plans to enhance portfolio quality.Build a strong, collaborative team by developing effective cross-functional sales and support staff.Support quoting and new product development activities.Conduct sales efforts across all accounts, negotiating pricing and discounts in coordination with executive leadership and finance.Manage sales forecasting and pipeline development to support financial reporting and departmental planning across operations, warehousing, and HR.Form cross-functional teams to support key accounts, fostering broad and deep relationships across both organizations.Collaborate with customer service, engineering, and plant management to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.Oversee internal sales administration, including CRM usage, reporting accuracy, and adherence to company policies.Partner with marketing to boost brand visibility and generate leads.Provide sales forecasts and performance reports to senior leadership.Represent the company at trade shows, industry events, and networking functions.Mentor the sales team on best practices, pipeline development, and relationship management.Facilitate onboarding and training for new team members to ensure smooth integration.Develop performance metrics and reporting systems to maintain high standards and identify areas for improvement.Apply continuous improvement methodologies to enhance process efficiency.Draft contracts and negotiate terms with customers.Contribute to the annual planning process.Adhere to company policies and procedures.Perform other duties as assigned.Essential SkillsBachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Marketing, or a related field.Minimum of 7 years of successful sales experience in a custom manufacturing environment.At least 3 years of experience in sales management, including team coaching and development.Proficiency with CRM systems and sales analytics tools.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Self-motivated with problem-solving capabilities in complex sales scenarios.Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, customer service, and distribution.Willingness to travel within the country.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience working with clients in the automotive manufacturing sector.Familiarity with IATF16949 standards, PPAP documentation, and advanced product quality planning.Knowledge of lean manufacturing practices.Understanding of tool design.Experience in quoting processes.Background in metal stamping, assembly, and manufacturing operations.Work Environment
The Sales Manager will oversee two business representatives and will potentially add a sales admin and an entry-level representative in the future. The role reports to a senior member of the leadership team and will eventually become a part of this team. The position requires onsite work from Monday through Friday, with hours ranging from 6:30-8 am to 3:30-5 pm. Travel is minimal, occurring once or twice a quarter, as the business development representatives handle most of the travel.
